What is the current status of the visa on arrival for Thailand, and how can I extend my stay if needed?

Morning all

Arriving in Thailand on 3rd May for 45 days.

I know to fill in the new TDAC 3 days before arrival.

Was hoping to get the 60 day visa on arrival, but I keep seeing on other groups on here that they have/planning to reduce it to 30 days again?

Has it happened, or is it still 60 days? If it’s already dropped back to 30 days, how’s easiest to remain for the 45 days?

Thanks everyone

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry discusses the current status of Thailand's visa on arrival policy, specifically the duration of stay which is currently 60 days but may revert to 30 days. Responses indicate that while the government is considering changes, as of now, travelers from over 90 countries are still eligible for the 60-day visa exempt stamp, which can be extended for an additional 30 days at an immigration office for a fee. The original poster plans to stay for 45 days and is looking for the best way to do so depending on these potential changes.

Cheers all, will keep an eye out but looks like it’s all good for now!

You won't be getting a Visa on arrival, you will get a visa exempt stamp, currently 60 days, but likely to go back to 30 days sometime soon, regardless which you get, it is extendable by 30 days at the IO for 1900 baht.

It hasn't happened yet, it likely won't until the government changes back.

It's all politics between 2 sides constantly trolling each other.

If it changes back then you either apply for a 60 day tourist visa before you come or get a 30 day visa exempt on arrival and get a 30 day extension at the local immigration office near the end if the initial 30 days.

Worst case scenario you get an extension. I doubt they will get rid of those

They did say they were "considering" rolling the 60 day free entry stamp back to 30 days BUT

that's all they said and it's 60 days for 90+ countries still

So about all you can do is watch the thai news, because believe me if/when they change it, it WILL be on every forum, group, website related to thailand 😛
