Is it true that when applying for DTV as a Brit you only need to have had the 500k+ THB in your account for 1 month? And also to confirm I MUST 100% apply from my home country now, not a border run etc?

Thanks
Summary so far
There is confusion regarding the bank balance requirement for applying for a Thai DTV visa from the UK. Some users state that a balance of 500,000 THB must be held for 1 month, while others mention it must be maintained for 3 months. Additionally, it has been confirmed that applicants must apply from their home country and remain there until the visa process is complete. This highlights the need for clarification from official sources such as the Thai embassy, as experiences vary significantly among applicants.

Who knows as the rules seem to be different for everyone and completely different between the embassy and the digital form. Mine was accepted with a one day statement of 15k €

Just had mine approved yesterday.....had the full money in for 10 days prior and was fine....but they did ask to see 3 months of bank statements and 3 months of payslips matching my weekly pay amounts...also asked for declaration that I wouldn't work and declaration that I wouldn't leave the country (uk) before the visa was approved...I also had to write a letter of introduction and say how I will support myself in Thailand....this was all the soft power route...I booked 6 months of muay thai training.... it took 1 week to get a reply asking for additional documentation and then 3 days later I got approved....I got my application in 2 days before the change to needing a police check.....hope this helps

Do you think Thailand could make things more complicated and ridiculous?

Sadly the UK is doing that as well ( I say this because of years of jumping through hoops for my Thai wife,s visa ) We are all Pawns in the bigger game....🤨

Just leave 500k in your account and forget about it, that way you’ll always be in their good books, it collects some interest every year 👍

John Hampton But it looses to inflation. I prefer to leave my money in the stock market as it doubles on average every 7 years

Before Sept 1st that was true, but now all embassies require 3 months bank balance. The UK embassy website should be updated stating that now.

Kool Breez UK always required 3 months statements. That's not the same as requiring the balance for 3 months

Michael Dawson chance it....if they refuse you, you don't get your 10,000b application fee back. A friends daughter got hers refused as she only had the money in the account for two months.

Michael Harmon I prepared everything stated on the embassy website and then when applying half of the documents required were different so not very helpful. Classic Thai bureaucracy so I was prepared for something like that.

I thought it was 3 months for the money. 1 month is great if true. I didn’t want to take money out of my investments for 3 months but a month is manageable. Could someone confirm this? 🤔

Yes to both. You must be in your home country when you apply and remain there until the process completes. Having money seasoned for a month is OK when applying from the UK

FriendlyPenguin2298 most times you have to scan every page of your passport. This will show your last entry and exit stamp. If you use E-Visa on exit or entry a computer record of your passport will identity your location.
