What are the considerations for applying for a DTV visa as a content creator in Thailand?

Hello! Would love to hear from someone who has got a similar situation to me, who has experience of applying for the DTV visa.

I’d like to apply as a content creator. My main platform is YouTube where I make travel content. I don’t have a huge following, about 6k subscribers, and I am part of YouTube’s partner program, so I do monetize all my videos. However my YouTube revenue is currently very low. So relying on that alone would not be enough to live on. But I’m looking to grow my channel during my stay in Thailand and update my channel multiple times a week, (which increases the income.)

So when in the application they ask for annual income, I’m worried it might be low, even though I’ve read that there’s no minimum income requirement, only the 500.000 baht requirement.

Luckily, I have enough savings. I’ve got significantly more than the 500.000 THB required. More than double.

Would love some opinions on this case. If you have been in a similar situation, or know someone who has, if love to hear your experience.

Please be kind🩷

Be careful that if you create travel related content in Thailand, the making of footage in Thailand might be considered as non remote working in Thailand which is not allowed on DTV.

in a similar boat.. large savings, but currently only make ~฿20k-฿25k/mo. i planned to use an agency, as i was concerned i’d be rejected due to low income, but ultimately decided not to. my app status changed to pending approval after 36h and a doc request. best of luck to you on you application & life in thailand:’)

I would say the bigger questions is:

With a very low income, can you afford to live 6 years in Thailand?

Not only food, drinks, but accommodation, insurance,, savings for old age?

Just to name a few life expenses?

Similar applicants have detailed their success obtaining the DTV which should be in the threads. Significant savings strengthens an application with low online income in my experience and others I know approved. There is no minimum income requirement, but they want to know you can support yourself financially via income alone or a combo of savings and income.

Might be a good idea to get in using Soft Power DTV. It'll be easier.

Savings can help you show financial stability and you can attach your YouTube initiative alongside.
