How do I apply for a DTV visa in Bali while being unemployed?

Apr 29, 2025
I have a question. I arrive in Bali tonight and want to apply for the DTV today or early tomorrow.

I already have all the paperwork that is needed for the soft power Muay Thai, but I have one more question about income.

I don’t work at the moment (due to personal reasons), but as soon as I get the DTV I will get back to it (online)

So I must say that I am unemployed, but I do have sufficient funds for the DTV and able to show for 3 persons if needed (my kids will be added as dependent when mine is approved)

However how would I do this with the application?

I do get benefits from my home country every month and extra every 3 months, which has been enough to live by the past 6 months (without having to dig in to the 500k)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning to apply for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Bali and inquires about how to present their income status since they are currently unemployed. They mention having sufficient funds available and receiving benefits from their home country. Community comments indicate that it is acceptable to apply while unemployed, as long as the necessary funds (at least 500,000 THB) are present in a bank account. Supporting documents may be requested during the application process, but employment status does not seem to be a strict requirement.

They don't check your income if applying at Jakarta embassy under the soft power DTV, only that you have at least 500k in bank.

If you are called for an interview, do you need to prepare the documents or the work you are doing? This is a very common question … what do you do for life? If you are 60 years old, you can claim to be retired and receive pensions.

Anonymous participant 447 They don't call for an interview at Jakarta consulate, it's all done online. All they are looking for is the the documentation they specifically ask for in the application process.

Not everyone receive email for interview, but it is possible that they might send an email for interview. Case to case basis.

Unless you are security guard or working for the consulate or sitting outside the gate for 8 hours everyday, then you can answer it.

You don't have to be working for soft power but they may want you to show how you can support yourself

For soft power you will be fine, assuming you have proof of 500k thb in your account

It says nowhere that you have to be employed, you need to show you have the 500.000 baht readily avaiable in a bankaccount.

Remember to stay in Bali, for the whole visaproces, and not leave until you get the visa.

if you worry about things like that I’m surprised you made it outside your home country. Another countries embassy is not ‘the government’ 🙄
