What are the quarantine rules for Thai nationals returning from the UK during COVID-19?

Hi there, my son lives in Thailand and I usually visit him every 6 weeks. His birthday is coming up fairly soon and I don’t want to miss that day .. I live in the Uk ..

Am I correct in saying the Uk is not on the list of welcome tourists ( no matter the circumstance) ?

My child’s mum would be willing to bring him to me instead if it wasn’t for having to do the 2 week hotel quarantine when returning ..

Do Thai nationals have to do the 2 week quarantine no matter what country they arrive from ?

I was hoping that perhaps I could meet them in a relatively Covid free country ( where they wouldn’t need to quarantine on returning )

Any suggestions very welcome 🙏

Kind regards

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the challenges faced by a UK resident wishing to visit his son in Thailand, particularly in light of current COVID-19 quarantine regulations. It is noted that the UK is not on Thailand's list of countries exempt from quarantine, meaning travelers from the UK, including Thai nationals, are required to undergo a two-week hotel quarantine upon returning to Thailand. Suggestions for possible solutions, such as considering travel to countries with fewer restrictions and monitoring updates about travel bubbles, are also mentioned.

Thailand still having to go through quarantine for U.K. not in the first 59, but could be added soon, first 59 on July 10th, Thailand is on the list for travel too, so should open up for getting covid insurance.

OK mate no worries Hope you manage to sort something out

Seen a similar post a half hour ago. Your wife would have to quarantine at her cost as she left voluntarily, also she would have to contact the Thai Embassy in the country she goes to for permission to go back. That could take weeks.

@Graham ********
when leaving UK they don't pass immigration so if she had to go past I don't think there would be to much of a problem unless it's automatically recorded when she leaves for future visas.

thanks Barry, yes she is Thai .. I think I’ll have to play the patience game here and hope for the best come mid August .. of coarse everything is so unpredictable!

@Tom *******
There is talk of a 'travel bubble opening soon in neighbouring countries. Maybe that could be an option.

@Graham ********
I don't know what the regulations will be in August but as of now she would have to go through the embassy.
Graham *********
@Barry ******

She is Thai?

@Barry ******
..yes on 6 month visa...

@Graham ********
She could apply now and ask the embassy for dates for repatriation flights. That the road I would probably go down.

Tom it’s a bit early to say . But it looks like for the next month , it’s 2 weeks quarantine on anything involving Thailand . The government is targeting Rich Koreans and Chinese first . Malls first .

. Richard Barrow can't change the law 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Bobby *******
- No,he can't but his advice has much more meaning than people on here guessing.

@Rob *********
. You obviously missed the earlier post, which produced the official release from PR Thailand. I'll help you out and show it again here. No-one's guessing. This is factual.
Rob **********
@Bobby *******
- Yes, this is the case now, but it's a guess to say how long the quarantine measures will last. Next week it may be shelved. Next month, nobody knows, so it's a guess. If anybody has a source it's Richard Barrow but nobody on here has a clue.

. The daily video updates from the Australian ambassador are also good sources of reliable information. Although targetted at Australians, many of the topics cover any nationality

. All changes are announced by PR Thai on a daily basis. That is the most accurate update you will get. A few hours ago, they announced there are now 13 hotels in the ASQ network, as they are stepping up the accommodation required for the influx expected in the next few weeks. Quarantine is here for a while, and people coming in have to accept it, or stay out. Most of the comments on this thread are correct, so when you say nobody has a clue you're actually underestimating people's ability to read
