What are the implications of the September 30 deadline for STV holders in Thailand regarding extensions?

On April 23rd when I entered with STV, it had been mentioned at the Thai Embassy that I would be able to stay in Thailand for 270 days (90 days + 2 extensions).

I will renew it for the 1st time at the end of July. However, I have learned that this program will expire on September 30th.

1. Will the added the September deadline for STV apply to people like me seeking for extensions only?

1. Can I apply for an early (2nd) renewal before Sept. 30th?

1. Is there any responsive email address to the immigration or some authorities that I can send to about these visa related queries?

This group has been so helpful. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns regarding the STV (Special Tourist Visa) expiration on September 30, particularly for those seeking extensions. The user queries whether the new deadline affects them and if an early renewal is possible. Responses indicate uncertainty about post-September extensions; however, many suggest that as long as STV holders apply for an extension before September 30, they can potentially remain in Thailand depending on local immigration office policies. The conversation highlights the inconsistency in information provided by different immigration offices and the challenges in getting definitive answers.

I'm closing comments. *NOBODY* knows how the "last" STV stamp would be implemented at the immigration offices. I am certain anyone on an STV can stay until September 30. After that, who knows :(

You'll find out when everyone else finds out.

all you can do is ASK the immigration officer when you go for your 90 day extension. There's no one on here who can give you definite answers to those questions.

Good luck with it

So I'm guessing your current stamp expires July 22? So your next stamp will expire October 20. As the last date for extension is September 30, that is only 20 days before your expiry, so you can go to immigration to apply. Whether they give you the final 90 days from September 30, which will take you to December 29, or whatever they'll tack the 90 onto your stamp, which will take you to January 19, I think will depend on what side of the bed the IO got out of the day you attend immigration. It's impossible to say as there appear to be no hard and fast rules relating to the STV, but I think you'll be right up to December 29

which immigration office are you using?

You need to check the immigration office you are going to use.

In case if you would be in Bangkok, the Bangkok immigration office announced this a while ago. (not sure how much it would work though)

I haven't gone to one yet. I came in from the Suvanahbhumi airport about a month ago, went to an ASQ near Nana in Bangkok and am staying at a hotel near Nana now too. I figured I would not have to report until my Visa expires and I've only stayed here for a month.

You can stay after Sept 30 with stv, but you can't extend. If you are within the extention timeframe by Sept 30 (varies by office 45 to 7 days), you can extend.

How do you know that?

I am in the STV and that is what the documents say. No where did immagration say you can't stay after Sept 30,only that was the last time to extend.

The best answer is "we don't know".

>Will the added the September deadline for STV apply to people like me seeking for extensions only?

"We don't know". However, I know you *CAN* stay no later then September 30. What happens after September 30th, we don't know

>Can I apply for an early (2nd) renewal before Sept. 30th?

At most immigration offices, you can apply no sooner then 30 days before your existing stamp expires. Some allow 45 days though.

>Is there any responsive email address to the immigration or some authorities that I can send to about these visa related queries?

No, each immigration office is managed separately. *Some* immigration offices have Facebook pages/ e-mal addresses, web pages, foreign speaking volunteers, etc. Type in "Immigration office [city name here]" and ask them.
