Can I apply for another 60-day tourist visa after my current visa and extension in Thailand?

Hi, I have a 60 day tourist visa right now that I got before I came to Thailand, will extend for 30 days in Thailand. After that if I would like another 60 days, is it possible? I know I would have to leave the country for several days and apply for one. Just wondering if they usually accept you having another 60 days if you've stayed for 90 days already. Anyone have experience with this? (I will probably go to Malaysia to apply.) Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring whether they can obtain another 60-day tourist visa after having already spent 90 days in Thailand on their current visa and a 30-day extension. Many commenters agree that it is possible, provided the user meets the requirements at the consulate they apply to, which can vary. Specifically, they mention that proof of funds, onward travel, and accommodation are typically necessary. There are various Thai consulates in Malaysia, with Penang noted as a potentially user-friendly location for visa applications.

would a bus ticket from thailand to Penang be okay? We have a flight booked to leave Thailand in March.

There are 3 thai consulates in Malaysia; Kuala Lumpur, Penang & Kota Bharu. You would do well to look at the requirements from them before you wing your way there to get a single entry tourist visa ;)

A friend of mine got a tourist visa at Penang less than a year ago and at least she was requested for a flight out ticket.

they require more than just two passport sized photos. You need to get updated information about that consulate and the requirements for a single entry tourist visa. I am pretty sure it's what I mentioned earlier (proof of funds, proof of onward travel and proof of hotel booking).

I was thinking Penang, just checked and they just ask for passport photos

No problem, if you meet the requirements at the consulate/embassy where you apply

If you want a consulate that is the most user friendly in all of S/E Asia as far as single entry tourist visas (meaning they require NONE of those 3-proof-ofz) you would want to go to the thai consulate in Vientiane Lao.

The last I had heard the consulate in Penang requires proof of funds, proof of onward travel and at least 3 or 4 days proof of lodging .. If you don't have that when you go to apply you cant even get onto the compound where the consulate is.

we are staying down south so Malaysia would be a lot cheaper, just checked and it just says two passport photos.

You shouldn't have any problem getting a single entry tourist visa after this one and the 30 day extension you're getting is up.

Keep in mind different thai consulates in different countries have totally different requirements as far as what you need to show to get a single entry tourist visa.

More and more consulates are requiring the 3-proof-ofz; proof of 20K baht (or the equivalent) in a bank account, proof of onward travel in 60 to 90 days and proof of a confirmed hotel booking or lodging. Check the consulate you're going to for the exact requirements so you don't get there but can't get a visa
