Hey guys,

I came to Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt and then extended for another 30 days. I have to leave by the 20th of this month and want to apply for a SETV to come straight back.

My question is, which is the best country to go to, to do this? Cambodia, Malaysia, I have no idea. I will go wherever has the easiest and fastest process.

I have both Australian and U.K. passport.

Thanks ๐Ÿ˜Š

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking recommendations on the best country to visit for applying for a Thailand Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) after having entered Thailand on a visa exemption and extended it. Users suggest locations like Laos, particularly Vientiane, which offers a straightforward process without the need for proof of onward travel, while others mention potential requirements in Penang or Malaysia, indicating considerations for easy and fast processing.

Penang is asking for proof of onward travel and a hotel booking.

Ok now I'm thinking about Penang. Airport is close, seems like it would be a nice place to visit. Not really keen on Laos

I've always seen Laos as being bad because of drugs and stuff. I'm sure it's ok I just don't want any trouble.

Haven't been to Penang yet. Laos is very nice in my opinion. If you plan to stay a bit longer there are very nice places to see in Laos. Vientiane is good for the 2 days you have to be there anyway. Then you can head up north to Vang Vieng (nice caves, lagoons, viewpoints) and further to Luang Prabang (nice colonial style town, nature, waterfall, temples). Luang Namtha is good for trekkig. Nong Khiaw is a very small laodback town also with viewpoints, river and good restaurants.

Can he use another exemption (the other passport plus another extension)?

Yes but that would only give me a total of 60 days instead of 90. It is a lot easier to just leave and come back though. Don't even need to leave airports. Maybe I'll consider that.

He could even use the same passport to enter again and extend his stay. Only the visa exempt entries by land are limited to two per calendar year. There is no official limit when flying (up to the immigration officer).

Vientiane, Laos.

Some embassies / consulates want to see a flight ticket out of Thailand.

You're right.

Just yesterday someone posted a report about KL:

Not a flight ticket, just onward travel.

Also, what exactly do I need to apply for a SETV in another country?

Completed application form + 2 photos + copy of passport pages (main photo page + Laos visa + Laos entry stamp page) + 1000b.
Steve *******
At Vientiane just a completed app form, passport photo, copy of your main passport page and the 1000bt fee.

Hello

I'd recommend Vientiane in Laos. You don't need to show proof of onward travel or hotel bookings. Drop off you passport on day 1 in the morning and pick it up the next afternoon.

Thanks Patrick. Didn't even consider Laos. I just want the easiest possible way without too much hassle and Vientiane sounds perfect
