About to get an extension on a workpermit.

Where would be the best option?

I hear Penang only serves 100 people a day

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your work permit, you should return to the Ministry of Labor where you applied for it. If you're looking for an Extension of Stay on your Non Immigrant B Visa, you can do this at your local Immigration Office, provided you have the necessary documents from your employer. Alternatively, you can apply for a new Non Immigrant B Visa at a Thai Consulate or Embassy. Note that Penang has tightened its visa policies, now primarily issuing year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas only to individuals in certain circumstances, such as being a managing director or holding at least 20% shares in a company.

You can't extend a visa :/ That means you're going there to BUY a new visa.

keep in mind that Penang changed their policy and now only issue year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas to people who are managing directors of a company OR you hold 20% shares in the company. Every one else only gets a 90 day single entry Non-B.

Also IF you are getting a Non-B for teaching (K-12) you need a police background check from your country and from thailand too.

You can only get extension on the work permit at the Ministry of Labor where you applied for it. But I guess you want an Extension Of Stay on your Non Immigrant B Visa. You can do this at your local Immigration Office with documents from your employer. Or apply for a NEW Non Immigrant B visa at a Thai Consulate/Embassy. If you're not a shareholder for minimum 20% the only option is the 3 months Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa.
