Hi Tod, I need a little advice please. I'm currently on a S.E NON B visa (90 days) and a current 6 month work permit. My visa will expire early January 2020. I usually go to Kuala Lumpur embassy and get a new S.E NON B visa and re-enter into Thailand. Although it clearly says on the KL application form that I can just extend my visa at the local immigration office once I have a 90 day SE visa and work permit. Please could you enlighten me on the correct steps I should do next..? Appreciate your time thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a S.E NON B visa and a 6-month work permit, with their visa expiring soon. They usually renew their visa by traveling to Kuala Lumpur but are seeking advice on extending it at a local immigration office instead. Comments suggest that extensions can often be processed locally, depending on documentation from the employer and the discretion of the immigration officer. Several users share their experiences, indicating that it is possible to get an extension without leaving Thailand, contingent upon the employer's compliance and the immigration office's policies.

I have a question. I already have a work permit. I wasn't able to get an extension for 1 yr at the local immigration. My first non b is about to expire. I am planning to get another non b in Vietnam. Do I need to secure a re-entry? Thanks a lot. ๐Ÿ˜Š

nope you had a single entry Non-B visa that gave you 90 days and during that 90 day period you were unable to get an extension. You will stamp out of thailand and go buy a NEW 90 day Non-B visa.

and getting an extension based on employment is TOTALLY dependent on the documentation you get from your company to go to the immigration office and apply for one.

That's between you and the company and the immigration office. IF they said you can't get the extension in country your only option is to go get another 90 day Non-B visa.

You are not the only person down on the islands who bounces out and back in every 90 days to get a new single entry non-B since Penang raised the criteria for year long, multi-entry non-B visas to being a managing director and holding 20% shares.

HI Deano, i asked the same question last year for

, because according to what i have read and my own experience with a non B extension, there should be no need to leave the country to get an extention, just go to the local immigration office and get your extention until the date that your contract expires. This is not happening with all the diving companies though. It all depends on their company registration, how many Thai people vs foreigners work for the company and many other rules and regulations. Are their taxes up to date and it also depends on the immigration officer. This is the answers that i got last year. I told Alyssa about 3 weeks ago to just pop in at Phang Nga immigration with the 40 pages of paper that the company gave her and just take a chance and see if they won't extend it to the same date as her contract. Maybe she is lucky and the officer extends it there and then, then no need to leave the country and spend 10 000 baht to apply for another 90 day non B, flights, accommodation and food....... Keep the money in Thailand i say and let the scuba divers extend their Non B at the local immigration office, save time and money

Good luck, and if you come right at immigration please let Alyssa know. She leaves for Singapore on Christmas Day to do her next Non B application for the next 90 days.
