What should I do while waiting for my work permit renewal and what are the implications of a Non-B multiple entry visa?

Hello, I am waiting on my paperwork for work permit renewal and Non B Multiple entry. I have to go to Penang. Where do I stay and what do I do? Also, does this mean that with a multiple visa entry, I only have to cross the boarder every 3 months. I do not have to go to a thai embassy? Last question: can I go to immigration and pay for a one year extension with a multiple visa entry? Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is awaiting paperwork for a work permit renewal and a Non-B multiple entry visa, and seeks advice on accommodations in Penang, the validity of multiple entry visas (including the necessity of crossing borders every three months), and the process for extending a visa while in Thailand. Community responses clarify that a multiple entry visa allows for re-entry to Thailand and advice on immigration processes and extensions of stay.

With a single entry non immigrant visa you get 90 days of Admitted to Stay. You can apply to extend this Admitted to Stay with 1 year. And do this year after year, as long as you can meet all the requirements.

@J**
, Situation of multiple entry Non B around Thailand is as
@Rob***
says.

Other slim chance is here. I guess you would have your HR Thai staff to call Yangon to clarify the possibility.

You can only get a 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant B visa in nearby Thai Consulates if you are the Managing Director of the company in Penang or if you are the Director of the company in Kota Bharu. As you alreade mentioned you are not a director all you can get is the Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa.

I can not get documents for 1 year extension. Only multiple visa which means only a boarder cross every 3 months? Right?
Ellie *******
@J**
, if it means documents to get a multiple entry visa at consulate outside Thailand, they are not the documents meeting requirements to get yearly extension inside Thailand. If it means to get extension with multiple re-entry permit inside country, things are as Robert said. I guess you better to talk with your employer which documents you have or ask if you have enough documents for yearly extension.

the company I am working with is providing me with documents to get a multiple visa.

be aware that you can apply extension as long as your employee is willing to provide enough documentation for you to apply extension of stay in Thailand. requirements are different for applying extension inside Thailand and getting visa at consulates outside of the country. Not all the employee can or wants to provide required documents to apply extension inside Thailand.

I know about the re-entry permit

Than all you can apply for at the Thai Consulate in Penang is a new Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa. On entry you get 90 days of stay and before these 90 days end, you can apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office. If you like to travel during that year you need a re-entry permit. Be aware that the requirements of Immigration are much more than a Thai Consulate.

My work permit will be renewed for another year

Are you the Managing director of the company, mentioned on the company documents and in the Work Permit? Did you already have a Single Entry Non Immigrant B visa and will your Work Permit be renewed for another year before you go to Penang?
