What are the options for obtaining a one-year Non-B visa in Thailand if I am currently facing restrictions at the Penang consulate?

Good morning. I have a work permit for one year as a general manager of a resort. Last year I got a non-immigrant b multiple entry visa for one year in penang. Last week I went to penang again to make my new visa. The only gave me a single entry for 3 months and told me that I need to be director or shareholder to get the one year visa as per new rules.

Does somebody know if there is any other embassy still doing one year visas for my case or if there are other possibilities to get it? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat with a work permit and a previous non-immigrant B multiple entry visa faced challenges obtaining a new one-year visa at the Penang consulate, which now restricts issuance to company directors or shareholders. Community members discussed alternatives, including a possible one-year multi-entry Non-B visa available from the Thai consulate in Kota Bharu, and suggested considering visa extensions instead of reapplying for a new visa.

I can't remember but I believe someone reported that the thai consulate in Kota Bharu will issue year long multi-entry Non-B's. I googled around and found posts from last year where people got them.

Might be worth contacting them.

How about Hong Kong or Ho Chi Minh?

Hi. They don't do it anymore. It's same penang now

AFAIK, Penang was the only thai consulate in S/E Asia issuing year-long, multi-entry Non-B visas.

You're stuck with a 90 day single entry and then applying for an extension of stay at the immigration office ...

@Ja***
, you take documentation from where you work to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension.

Your employer should know the required documentation or you can stop by your immigration office as most of them have a hand out listing the documents.

What are the eligibility requirements for getting a 1 year extension on single non b?

As of early Jan 18 Penang stopped issuing 1 year multi non b unless you are owner or director of the company. Extension of non b with work permit supposedly can only be extended (no need for boarder bounce every 90 days) if the company employs/pay tax and social security for 4 Thai staff.

That's exactly my case. Do you know what I can do or where to go to obtain 1 year?

If you already have a Non B and work permit why did you go get another visa and not just extend the original one? Did you move jobs?Normally you just extend every year. Also if you have 3 months then if you are applying for a work permit again then should not be a problem getting the 1 yr extension within those 3 months.

It should be a lot easier to get the extension in Thailand ๐Ÿ‘

Why not just get an extension ?
