Hey! Does anybody have an insurance recommendation in Thailand for DTV holders? Strong coverage for accidents & Outpatient care included so that I don’t have to pay in the hospital myself?
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around seeking health insurance recommendations for holders of a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand, specifically looking for plans that cover accidents and outpatient care without upfront costs at hospitals. Community members suggest various insurance providers, including AIA and Cigna, and highlight the benefits of using agents familiar with DTV requirements. Opinions vary on travel versus local insurance, with some advocating for travel insurance due to better coverage options and costs, while others point out local plans that cater specifically to DTV holders.

AIA, the biggest Thai insurance company, is now DTV-friendly. Got mine 3 weeks ago, and have already been using it at a Thai hospital after an accident. Works great! I used an agent who speaks fluent English and it made the whole process of getting that contract a breeze.
Use travel insurance as long as you can. There is no point at all in getting a Thai insurance that covers out patient. The additional premium heavily outweighs what you might use.
