ORIGINAL POSTER
Can any one recommend an agent to sort out my retirement visa in Pattaya or Jomtien. They will do everything and put the 800000 onto the bank account. But they want 48000 baht each for me and my wife. Just wondering if anyone knows anyone who does it cheaper. We are from the uk and staying in jomtiem.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around finding affordable agents to assist with retirement visas in Pattaya or Jomtien. The original poster mentioned being quoted 48,000 baht for both him and his wife, seeking cheaper alternatives. Several comments recommend agencies such as Maneerat (near Soi Post Office), Mots Services, and One Stop Visa, noting varying prices depending on the services included—ranging from 12,000 to upwards of 32,000 baht based on specific needs and services provided. There are also mentions of recent increases in costs due to stricter banking requirements for foreigners.

Soi Post Office.

Across the office is Maneerat.

I moved to Koh Samui after receiving my "retirement " visa and they took care of my 90 day check ins at no extra fee for 6 years.

Great service.

The whole agency system is based on corruption and backhanders... it's definitely the way things work in Thailand but once you go down that route you could be stuck with it. Obviously sounds like you don't have the upfront funds to do it the non agency way.

Good luck 🍀🤞🏼
Rene ********
@Tony ********
not stuck
Rene ********
It's maybe the case in some places but DEFINITELY is not the case everywhere
Tony *********
@Rene *******
- the point was that you are making life more difficult later, they clearly don't have the money anyway so that's why they are choosing this route
Rene ********
@Tony ********
, sometimes it's more convenient for people depending on personal situation to use an agent. They might well have the cash but not waste tie it up. Time restraints and travel can also be a factor that comes into play
Nongnuch ********
@Tony ********
very true!

the going rate for the initial 15 months used to be 25,000 - 32,000 THB for the 90-days visa, the 1-year extension, plus a multi re-entry permit included for the extension. Sadly, since February 2025, the rules for opening a bank account for a foreigner on a touristic entry have been tightened. So now the bank, too, needs to be "greased". That includes you having to buy an insurance from the bank, increasing the price by a minimum of 5000 to 7000 Baht. I hope this explains the price hike to 48,000 THB. And keep in mind, the next application for a 1-year extension of stay by the same agent will come much cheaper, it should be something like
*****
- 15.000 THB. Ask them!

Matthew *********
@Nongnuch *******
many have almost doubled in one year time span. But I see the owner of the group has dropped their prices to decent price and with renewal. Thai economy was posted 2.5 growth, the worst in Asia. Got to make that money up somewhere 555.

with no price list attached ! The 14,000 THB assistance for Retirement visa, that is the price when you already have your own 800,000 THB deposit. This is NOT the price for the initial 15 months without own funds. GET REAL,

multi re-entry permit included? If not, just add 4500 - 5000 THB on top of these 23,000 THB . . . plus the bank insurance (since opening a bank account on a touristic entry has been made VERY difficult since February1st. So it could easily be 32,000 THB right now, because they got to grease a few more palms
