TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a 44-year-old foreigner married to a Thai citizen and with a son, is seeking advice on visa options for the next six years before qualifying for a retirement visa. They prefer to avoid border runs and are interested in renewing their marriage visa or exploring other options given their financial constraints, such as not meeting the bank balance requirement for certain visas. Comments suggest considering options like the multi-entry visa based on marriage, educational visas, or using a visa agent to navigate the requirements.

You can go to Savanakhet, Laos, get a multi o year visa based on marriage, no funds needed except 5,000 baht for the visa. You will have to leave the country, do a border run every 90 days though. You will also have to pay 1.500 baht each time you leave for the Laos visa

Marriage, ed visa, WP, play the 6 Month METV until they stop you...Elite visa

@Bradley ******
Your only options are to carry on getting a dodgy extension from an agent or got to a Thai consulate outside of LOS and get a Multi 'O' .Some will give you an extension without showing money..like Savannakhet. The only other option is to get someone to lend you the money 2 months before your extension is due !!

alan you seem to be missing the point! the reason for my question is to gain oppinions on the best/cheapest solution to my staying in los. if you cannot offer advice then go troll elsewhere!

So if you're married why do you need a extension based on retirement when you only need 400k for one based on marriage ??

If you haven't got 400k for a extension based on marriage how will you get 800k for one based on retirement ???
