Saw this posted in another group, if it goes ahead it could be very helpful. Guaranteed to meet the requirements, and the pricing sounds very reasonable- starting at 1,600B for people from a low risk country for a short visit.

"Any travelers who meet the requirement must pay premiums to cover periods of 30 days up to one year. The price can vary depending on the Covid-19 risk in the country of origin.

Travelers from low-risk countries will pay between 1,600 and 14,400 baht. Those from moderate-risk countries will pay between 2,560 and 23,040 baht. Those from high-risk countries will pay between 4,800 and 43,200 baht."

TLDR : Answer Summary
A proposal for a new insurance requirement for travelers entering Thailand has emerged, impacting those from various risk categories based on their countries of origin. Prices for Covid-19 insurance range from 1,600 to 43,200 baht depending on whether travelers are from low, moderate, or high-risk countries. While some expats express skepticism about this requirement and raise concerns regarding insurance validity and costs, others see it as a streamlined approach to managing travel safety. There are discussions about existing travel and health insurance adequacy and whether travelers truly need the specified insurance from particular Thai companies.

Seems they do everything to support the private sector, the insurance companies, but nothing at all for their people suffering from the lack of tourists. That's called pure capitalism. Give the rich, take from the poor.

@Ettore *******
. Seems you have a different definition of capitalism to the rest of the world. Tourism doesnt exist without capitalism in its basic form..

I am wondering now whats going to happen when i go to extend my visa. I bought insurance with US$ 100,000 as required to get my cerificate of entry its accepted and in country. Its not on the list of the 12 companies from goverment. Are they going to try to get me buy another which means i will have 3 different insurance. My original one didnt have covid cover as specified by embassy
Michael ********
It will all probably change again soon
Ettore ********
Bad news, you need an insurance which is on the list. I have international health insurance that covers 400'000 Euros, includes COVID, but is not on the list. Not good enough for Thai authorities, as they want their national insurers to make the big money.

which consulate is that? That's a new thing, people have been accepted with non-Thai insurance. You do need your insurer to explicitly state it covers Covid in Thailand though.

Right now I think this is an additional option, your Covid insurance doesn't HAVE to come from one of these companies. But it may be an easy option for many.

My understanding is that you do need your insurance to explicitly state it covers Covid for entry though. This can be in the form of an additional letter from your insurer confirming that, on a general policy.

yes my insurance does all as required otherwise they would not of let me in and its Thai just not from one of those 12 companies but maybe a subsidary i will check with agent tomorrow

no non o marriage normally get one year multiple entry from Singapore but embassies only issuing 3 months at moment lady said changes coming to visas on September 15th that all I know. Except one guy just came in from Melbourne and got ususl one year multi. But UK and other countries all seem to be 3 months
Ivan ************

@Mic****
non-O visa does not require insurance to extend. You only needed insurance to get in.

Even if someone got a one year multi, it's very unlikely they will be able to use it, they will have to do a 1 year extension after the first 90 days as they won't be able to bounce. So functionally it makes no difference.

@Ivan ***********
yes i know normally insurance not required to extend yes other guy is confusing it.

But i was member of farangs stranded abroad so seemed to be lots of conflicting information (surprise surprise) from different embasssies about length of insurance required for entry most were saying had to be valid for a year as i had applied for one year multi entry but then only got 3 month and extend in country. We will see i will go immigration early october and check everything.

@Mic****
I think what would matter would be the length of your stamp on entry. The stamp even on a 1 year multi entry is only for 90 days so only 90 days insurance required. If you left and came back, you'd need insurance again, for 90 days.

Elite might need the full year as they get an actual 1 year stamp at the time of entry.

I have seen nothing to suggest that this affects extensions in any way whatsoever, the Covid insurance is only about entry.

@Ivan ***********
its bought anyway difference between 3 months and a year wasnt that much anyway and cover everything in Thailand. Will report in when go do extension being one of early non o allowed back in i will also be one of the first to do extension
Ettore ********
@Ivan ***********
I know, I'm on a O visa, and 800'000 THB in the Thai bank account is guarantee enough for the immigration that you are able to cover hospital costs, while OA and OX don't need this amount in a Thai account. But check out this. It might work with an insurance which is not on the list. At least it's worth to try.

I don't mean to be going off on either of you, it's just important to keep straight what we are talking about here. This story is about the $100k Covid insurance for entry. It has nothing to do with the 400k/40k THB general insurance required to get or extend an O-A (who can't enter now anyway). These are two totally different things.

O-As are currently not allowed in, and I believe new O-A issuance is currently suspended at all consulates, you can't get one right now. So _right now_ that form is totally irrelevant to anyone, it is not applicable to anyone's situation.

@Ett***
work for what? That's for a O-A, to get the visa at a consulate. That's the ONLY thing that works for. It doesn't work for O-A extensions. It has nothing to do with the Covid insurance either.
Ivan ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ett***
that's for general insurance for an O-A. It's totally unrelated to the $100k coverage for Covid.
Ettore ********
@Ivan ***********
Yes, you're right, but Michael Dawson was talking about extending his visa, so I assumed he is on a 1-year visa. Maybe misunderstanding.

@Ett***
you cannot extend an O-A without Thai insurance from one of the 12 companies. You can enter with foreign insurance and that form, but you need Thai insurance to extend.

It's important to just keep straight here that these are two totally independent requirements, the $100k Covid entry insurance, (which applies to everyone entering now) and what you might need for an O-A (which only applies to the O-A, who can't enter now anyway).

I presume if
@Mic****
got in with his Covid cover, he's not on an O=A and won't need any insurance to extend.

But if I have already an insurance from my Country covering also covid19, I must subscripe another one ?

Money spinner, usual from Thailand’s idiotic government.

It’ll probably change again over the next few days as it usually does.

From one ludicrous idea to another.

I will never understand why anyone is so desperate to have a Thai holiday these days.

I simply accept I won't stay in Thailand this winter. Next....
