Hi All, I normally come in on an O marriage visa. As I work offshore Iโ€™ve never had to go beyond 3 months due to work contracts.

Iโ€™m back in Thailand now, on a 90 day marriage visa and will want to extend. As my work contracts donโ€™t start again till 2021.

I heard I could get a further 60 days added to my current visa?

Or do I wait and apply for another 90 days later down the line?

Any help greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ‘

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are on a 90-day marriage visa in Thailand, you can extend it for an additional 60 days through a family visit extension by visiting the immigration office with your Thai spouse. There isn't a possibility to obtain another 90-day extension without leaving the country, but you can apply for a one-year extension of stay based on your marriage. To qualify for the one-year extension, you need to meet financial requirements, such as having 400,000 THB in a bank account or a monthly income of 40,000 THB.

Yes, you can. This is called an:

Extension of stay based on visiting Thai family.

This 60 days will be added on to your existing stay, so there's no reason to delay. Each immigration office may have their own slightly different requirements, so ask them. However, you *WILL NOT* need 400K THB in a Thai bank account, OR the 40K THB monthly income, OR a letter from your embassy saying you make 40K THB a month (note: most embassies do not offer this letter).

>Or do I wait and apply for another 90 days later down the line?

You can not apply for another 90 days. To get this 90 days, you'll have to jump out and return back to Thailand. This requires getting a Certificate of Entry and going through quarantine.

You *CAN* get a one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. This *WILL REQUIRE* the 40K THB in monthly income, OR 400K THB seasoned in a Thai bank account for 2 months, OR a letter from your embassy saying you make 40K THB a month.

I believe if you don't have 400K seasoned you can also use monthly deposits into a Thai account from overseas.

do you know which immigration offices allow 3 months for the first time only?
James ********
Cory Rose you cannot pick and choose an immigration office .

One did it recently to help a gent who had finished his ASQ...

I've been married for 4 years and have 2 Thai children, I doubt they would consider my marriage to be fraudulent but who knows. Do you know which immigration offices allow 3 months for the first time only? Just considering all of my options
James ********
Cory Rose no I do not. You might ask yours. Hopefully they can do. But unless you ask their requirements you will not know.

Because they will do a house visit? Could you rent a house temporarily in a certain area to get the extension? That might be easier than leaving the country and trying to get back in

Cory Rose I never seen anyone getting a 3 month extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. Maybe it does happen, maybe it doesn't. The only two options are:

1. A 60 day extension of stay based on visiting Thai family:

- NO banked money/ monthly income/ or other proof of finances required

- NO visits by immigration office

- NO photographs needed (excluding the two passport size pictures of you)

- Contact your local immigration office for the specific requirements

2. A one year extension of stay based on marriage to a Thai wife.

-Money of 400K THB in a Thai bank account in your name seasoned for 2 months OR 40K THB a month in income OR a letter from your embassy saying you make 40K THB a month in income (note: most embassies do not offer this letter).

- A visit by the immigration office.

- Photographs of you and the wife in various places in the house (specifics depend on the immigration office).

- Contact your local immigration office for the specific requirements

You *CAN NOT* pick and choose which immigration office you want to use. You and your wife marriage must be both legal and actual; that means the paperwork is signed AND you two are living together (the purpose of the visit by the immigration office).

IF you believe your immigration office offers some type of special 3 month visa/ extension of stay thingie that I never heard of, contact your immigration office and ask them for the specific requirements; they would know.

Cory Rose yes house visit and they ask neighbors too.

Watching carefully for marriage fraud.

I went two weeks ago and they wanted 12 months. At first I only had 11, because I had switched banks where the money was deposited and they refused to give me the under consideration stamp until I came up with that 12th month. They are very picky. And that 12th month was the first month a year ago.

show 12 months of international deposits.

Check with immigration office.. Some have allowed three months deposits first time only.

Yes...you can get a 60 day family visit extension.

Take your Thai wife to immigration and pick up list of requirements.

There is no further 90 days...you can get one year extension of stay.

Meet financial requirement of 400,000 Thai baht in your name bank account two months before application.

I just did this. Immigration at CW insisted on the 400K being in the bank for 2 months before you do the 1-year extension.
