What are my options for obtaining a visa to stay in Thailand for 90 days given my current situation?

Hi all, i would like to travel asap to Thailand for tourist purposes. The problem is; the Thai embassy in my country (the Netherlands) is fully booked until the end of the year, and e-visas are not yet issued. I therfore cannot get any Tourist Visa before 2022.

The 30 day visa exempt could be an option but i would like to stay at least 90 days. Besides, I have read that the visa amnesty regulation will expire after the 26th of November. What are my options in this situation? Can I immediately apply for the amnesty after my arrival? Am I even eligible for the amnesty on a 30 day visa expempt?

I don't understand. When you say eVisas aren't issued yet, what do you mean? Is that specific to the Netherlands?

Depending on your age if 50 or over and finances you could apply for Non O once in Thailand that's good for 90 days.

Both a tourist visa or visa exempt entry are allowed one extension for 30 days at a local immigration office. Whilst it is true the “unable to travel due to Covid” extension is available until November 26th, many offices will insist you get the 30 day extension first. No one knows if the cut off date will be extended. It has been numerous times already but usually only announced a day or so before so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Even if the immigration office allowed you to apply they’ll probably date it from the day you apply rather than adding it on to your existing stamp.

You cannot apply for the covid extension when you arrive. You must get your normal 30 day extension before applying for the covid extension, and when you apply for covid extension it starts the day you apply, and you lose the rest of your days on your existing stamp.

You don't have a lot of options, most countries don't allow people to just come and stay as long as they want, and things are returning back to Normal so Thailand doesn't want people doing that anymore either.

Your option is to get the appropriate visa for your intended stay, or don't stay that long.

i will not enter on a tourist visa, but on 30 day visa exempt. Will i be able to apply for the covid extension before my 30 days have expired?

"You must get your normal 30 day extension before applying for the covid extension". You are assuming I have a Tourist visa. I will arrive on 30 visa exempt which does not have a normal 30 day extension. ;-)

@Egbert ****
tourist visa or exempt entry, same applies, both eligible for 30 day extension

@Egbert ****
Visa exempt DOES have a 30 day extension, just like tourist visa. You must get this before you can even apply for covid extension. The covid extension will likely not exist by then, and you wouldn't want to apply for it anyways because you would lose the rest of your time.

I didn't know exempt had a 30 day extension, thanks for the info!

They say e-visa will start end of November. Your best option will be a TV I think.

I'll say from my experience is that they will give you the 30 day first (thats what they did to me as I asked for the 60 ) as now more so as they are opening up the country so for sure I reckon they wont extend the 60 day covid extension after the 26th
