Normally I would apply for a visa , Mon immigrant or tourist 60 days but here in the Netherlands the embassy said I have to apply in person and then go again to pick it up.

I think it's weird in these covid times.

Guess beter go to Bangkok and get a exemption visa. Is that still possible and can I get a 30/60 extension?

Could I get problem boarding my flight?

Answers highly appreciated

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing difficulties applying for a visa from the embassy in the Netherlands, which requires in-person applications and pickups. They consider traveling to Bangkok for a visa exemption. Additionally, there are queries about the possibility of obtaining a 30/60-day extension and concerns about potential boarding issues for their flight. Responses clarify that travelers can enter Thailand visa-exempt but must coordinate with the embassy for a certificate of entry and can extend their stay at an immigration office.

I thought you couldn't make personal visits to the embassies presently. Everything over the internet, I'd rather go in person to the embassy

really maybe things are changing

You can enter Thailand visa exempt but you still have to coordinate with the embassy there to get your certificate of entry. You’d get 45 days on arrival ( 15 nights in a quarantine hotel). You can extend that once for 30 days at a local immigration office. After that you either leave or find another visa option that may be available to you. ED visa, volunteer, work visa etc. Depending on what transpires after March 30th the unable to travel due to Covid extension may be available. No one knows yet.

Ah. I stand corrected then!

Normal tourist visa's have not been permitted since Thailand locked down. An STV was the only way a tourist could and I think still can, gain access to Thailand and they only started Novemerish! Not sure where you are getting your info from but I do not think it is accurate!

@Barry ******
people could come by tourist visa about 3-5 months.

Barry Mutch. It was beginning of November when visa exempt was allowed again. Prior to that it had been STV or TR. The STV was such a flop, Thai government allowed visa exempt and even added another 15 days to cover quarantine

sorry but you’re way out of date on your info. As I said I can’t recall the exact date but it was either November or December last year that normal tourist visas and visa exempt were allowed. You still have to jump through the hoops to get a certificate of entry and quarantine but you can enter on a TR or visa exempt now. I know from personal experience that this is allowed as my sister is here now on a visa exempt.

so no actual visa stickers affixed to your Passport then, so PP does not need to be sent in.

not if doing visa exempt. COE is normally done via email so you shouldn’t need to mail anything in.

When did they start allowing people in without a visa? As far as I know a STV is required?

@Barry ******
for months now. Can’t recall exactly but maybe November last year. STV is a seriously bad visa on many counts. You need fully paid up accommodation and health insurance for the whole time you’re here. Even for the two extensions you’re allowed. And if you get to the end of it you have no option to change to any other visa. A normal tourist visa (TR) or visa exempt entry offers you many more choices and relatively no conditions.
