Hi I'm new to the group and hoped someone could help me, my husband and I are from the uk. We came to Thailand and had 45 day entry visa, we then extended for 30 days, we still need a visa for 4 days to bring us to the end of our trip, does anyone know if that is possible or do we have to leave the country, thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster seeks advice on extending their stay in Thailand for an additional 4 days after exhausting their current visa options. Community responses suggest various alternatives: making a visa run to a neighboring country, paying daily overstay fees while cautioning against the potential risks, or applying for a 7-day extension at an immigration office, which is likely to be denied, giving them the extra days needed to leave without overstaying. Emphasis is placed on the importance of avoiding overstays due to potential future immigration issues.

Never plan to overstay. If checked by the police you end up in immigration detention. It's not a nice place to be.

It's wise ๐Ÿšซ NOT to be on OVERSTAY.

APPLY for an Extension of Stay at your local Thai immigration office...

They will deny it and give you 7 days to depart Thailand.

BUT...

Apply for the 30 Day extension... During the LAST DAY OR TWO of your current ending date in your passport.

Because when DENIED, Thai immigration will stamp the 7 days from date of your application.

HAVE proof of your flight departing Thailand to show Thai Immigration with your application.

It's simple to do.

thank you... It's the right decision for your situation. Go to the Thai immigration office in the final 1 or 2 days of your current permission to stay stamp. They add 7 days from your application date.

Good Luck ๐Ÿคž you will be fine.

Thanks for visiting Thailand.

The Welcome Mat will be ready for your return.

7-day rejection stamp that Alistair explained is the best option. If you overstay, this might create issues for any future visits to Thailand, or when applying for a visa.

You can either overstay, many don't recommend it, but it's up to you to assess the risk.

Or you can go to immigration and apply for an extension. This will be denied as you don't qualify for it, and you will be given a 7 day stamp to leave the country for 1900B. Tell them you only need 4 extra days so they understand why you want the 7 day rejection stamp.

Technically you have to leave to prevent overstay. You could overstay for four days, but, there is a risk, all be it a small one of being stopped before you exit the the country. A few days in laos or Malaysia would possibly be a nice side trip to circumnavigate this.

You could try a visa run (may not make sense).

If you're ok with an overstay, and do not plan on getting arrested then you may just pay the 500thb per day overstay fine on exit (just make sure to keep it under 90 days).

Other option is a 7 day extension which you can get but once you get that stamp you must leave. This stamp can sometimes be worse than an overstay depending on your situation. (you must leave after that stamp)

Finally you can just leave before you actually overstay (but we are sure you already considered this).

Your advice?

makes no sense getting a visa for just a few daya, better for them to just do a border bounce and get 45 days visa exemption.

And never ever overstay!!

The best option is to properly plan your trip, and visa.

Unfortunately many travelers do not, and end up in situations where they want to stay longer in Thailand than their original intended trip.

Many tourists come to us after overstaying, and additional extension options are still possible as long as the overstay is not too long.

However if you get a 7 day stamp with order to leave there are no options, and you must leave. If you overstay on top of that stamp it looks much worse than just overstaying on top of your original extension.
