Hi. I need some help regarding the Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.

I am back in the U.S. now and I am trying to apply for a Multiple Entry 1 year Non-Immigrant Type B Business visa through the mail because I am in Seattle. My company has sent me with a packet of paperwork, and I have a scan of my WP3.

Can someone confirm what documents are required for this visa? Every conversation I have with the embassy via phone or email, I am referred to their website - but the websites differ among themselves.

Thank you in advance

You may want to consider using the Thai Consulate in LA. I have always gotten good service, via the mail, from them and I am in your neck of the woods.

I think they're only going to issue you a 90 day single entry Non-B from ANY of the consulates that can issue multi-entry visas (Chicago, Los Angeles, New York & Washington DC).

You're out nothing by trying for the year long, multi-entry Non-B (and definitely report back IF you can get one).

Also keep in mind that a year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant Type B visa means you get stamped into the country for 90 days at a time. When that 90 days runs out you exit/re-enter the country to get another 90 day stamp. You do that for the validity of the visa itself (a year from the date of issue). You can get almost 15 months of stay out of it (in 90 day increments)

I'd try the honorary consulate in Portland for a 90 day single entry Non-B.

It was changed without formal announcement some months ago. The only two Thai Consulates in the Thailand Region - that had been awarding One Year Multi Entry Visas -Penang and Kota Bharu Malaysia ceased issuing such visas except to Directors of Thai Registered Companies who are by default shareholders.. Employees of companies have been directed to process a One Year Extension of Stay via Employer supported Application at local Thai Immigration - plus the Work Permit Application.

Joe D Greene is this confirmed? (regarding 1 year reserved for shareholders) I heard this but I also heard the rule changed. Do we know?

Employees of Thai Registered Companies can get a B Visa 90 days. Then with required documents provided by the Employer the Foreign Employee can apply for a One Year Extension of Stay at a Thai Immigration Office. But of course a Work Permit must be applied for and awarded by the Labor Ministry before a One Year Extension of Stay of a B Visa 90 days can be granted.

The One Year Multiple Entry B Visa is only available to Share Holder Directors of a Thai Registered Company.

Regarding Portland 90 day - Thank you very much for this suggestion. I didn’t know Portland had such a place and it’s a great plan B. Or plan A.5

Hi Tod. I want to go straight for the 1 year multiple entry to save money - as it’s $200 for the entire year, v.s. $80 for 90 days.

And why wouldn't you use one of the honorary consulates closer to Seattle to get a 90 day single entry Non-B visa?

I’m hoping I can hear from someone who has applied for this SAME visa, with a U.S. passport, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C.
