What additional documentation do I need to provide to verify my status as a freelancer for remote work in Thailand?

They require additional documents."Employment certificate must indicate for your remote worker", I already sent them the contract. And my boss didn't want to sign the statement as I'm not going to be an employee when I'm freelancer. What other documentation do I need to provide to verify that I can work remotely? How should I do that? Please recommend me.☹️

TLDR : Answer Summary
To verify your status as a freelance remote worker for your Thai visa application, you should provide more specific documentation beyond your work contract. It's important to clarify that you are applying as a freelancer, not as an employee. Recommended documents to submit include: business registration, a portfolio of your work, client contracts, invoices, and bank statements showing payments from clients. Additionally, you might want to ask your employer for an employment certificate that explicitly states your role as a remote employee, if applicable.

just tell HR that you want a certificate of employment that states remote work? very easy.

I provided these two different documents separately and highlighted remote work. No questions ask.

One - employment certificate that states clearly that I am a remote employee. It is provided by the company or draft your own using chatgpt, signed by your boss.

Two- a contract that states the working arrangement which is remote. Signed by my boss.

If you are a freelancer you cannot be an employee, employee is different from contractor/freelancer, do you understand the concepts?

Employment certificate is different than contract, they want it to state that you're still employed and remote work is authorized including in Thailand.

Do I understand things right? Did you send your current work contract even though you are not going to work remotely for that company???

If so, that was a mistake... Sending a work contract made them believe you applied as a remote worker. If you intend to freelance you need to

provide documentation that supports that.

When you send additional documents you should write an explanation that you apply as a freelancer (not remote worker) and provide documentation such as:

- business registration if you have one

- a portfolio showing your work

- screenshots or links to i.e. webpage and/or social media (or whatever you use to promote yourself/your work)

- client contracts and copies of invoices to clients

- bankstatements showing income/payments from clients etc.

You could also search for posts in this group to learn what others, applying as freelancers, provided.

Yes, I did.I sent my current employment contract, and I will be working remotely for my company. However, the embassy requires a certificate from my company, which they are unable to provide.

Anonymous participant Your responses are contradictory. If you submitted a letter from your boss, you attempted to tell the embassy that you work for him or the company he works for. However, it sounds like you do not plan to continue to work for him, but used a letter from him to get the visa. These are red flags to the embassy. Since it sounds like you told the embassy you are continuing to work for him, you need a letter from them, signed, stating you have permission to work remotely.

Anonym deltagare you are contradicting yourself in your post and by this comment...

"...my boss didn't wanna sign the statement as I'm not going to be an employee when I'm a freelancer."

and

"I sent my current employment contract and I will be working remotely for my company."

Either you will work remotely as an employee of a company outside Thailand... Then a work contract is valid information to send and the work contract needs to mention that you are allowed to work remotely (this is what the embassy is asking for).

OR

You you apply as a freelancer with clients outside Thailand. I guess this is what you are going to do and that your current employer is going to be your future client.

If that is the case you need to write an explanation about this to the embassy. If you are ending the work contract you sent, then it is not really a "base for your application". For that you need to show client contracts (one or more if you have).

So you need to make a client contract with the company where you have worked up until now. (It could mention that you've previously been employed and that they will pay for your services as a freelancer going forward. It should include what type of work you will do for them etc.)

As a freelancer you would be able to show a contract with the company that specifies that you can work remotely? If not, then get one.
