TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around booking return flights for those entering Thailand on a TR visa. Users suggest that it's possible to book a return flight for 90 days, especially if planning to apply for an extension, which can provide a more stress-free option. While flights can be booked beyond 60 days, there are varying opinions on whether an outbound ticket is mandatory. Some mention not being questioned about a return ticket upon entry, while others highlight the importance of having confirmation for repatriation flights in light of current travel regulations.

I just booked my one-way flight (from USA) and submitted my application. The embassy immediately responded and asked me to submit my return flight

No problem with a booking 90 days out, none at all.

Ps- the extension is now 45 days & not 30 to allow for the 15 days quarntine-

I stand humbly corrected :/

You are 100% right in so far as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs IS indeed considering increasing the 30 day extension on a 60 day tourist visa entry to 45 days

BUT it has not been approved yet.

Just FYI, my information about the possible restarting of the visa exempt/visa waiver program with 45 day entry stamps rather than 30 day ones is also something that is going on as well :O

I apologize for my coarse remarks and manner. I am who I am, BUT I AM man enough to come back and say when I am wrong too :) Take care

Here's the link to the "increase 30 day extensions on 60 day tourist visas to 45 days"

I just arrived Friday and I was not even questioned about a return ticket (I don’t have one as I’m going to try and chance my visa here to something longer)

hi, how did you apply for the CoE? Without the onward? Did you only supply them with the entry flight and they had no further questions? Thanks

"In order to travel to Thailand, you will need BOTH a visa AND Certificate of Entry (COE). E-tickets for a regular commercial flight may be used to apply for a visa. However, ONLY repatriation flights and semi commercial flights are allowed to enter Thailand. You must submit both E-ticket for one of the repatriation flights AND booking comfirmation for Alternative State Quanrantine (ASQ) before Certificate of Entry (COE) can be issued."

@Corey ******
I applied online, using the consulate in vancouver (Canada). The COE is only for your flight into Thailand.

Yes .I always booked my ticket for more than 60days.I normally do more than60 days at a time.

Changing your ticket could incur expensive costs.

Best book it for 87 days

Less stress.

I don’t believe that you have to book an outbound flight....if so I will us an app called best onward ticket,

will that be valid?

If you use the fake ticket, I don't think it will stay valid long enough for processing the CoE. Thoughts? I'm trying to figure things out too

G’day Corey, the ticket and app that I am referring to, I have NOT used before or looked into it to much, however, it is for an OUTBOUND flight FROM Thailand, NOT into Thailand. And from what I have seen on there site, it is legit ticket, and you have something like 24 hours to confirm that you want to keep it, and of course pay the full amount for that OUTBOUND ticket OUT of Thailand. I have got my TR Visa, COE, paid for my flight INTO Thailand, ASQ hotel, Covid insurance, and have receipts for my condo that I am also renting. And I will go and have my Covid PRC test on Monday morning, then do the Fit To Fly, and pick up the Covid test, (hopefully negative) on Monday afternoon, and fly out of Laos on Tuesday morning on the approved flight..... the reason I mentioned the OUTBOUND option was in case anyone was stopped at the airport ting on their flight, as they MAY have been expected to have a return or outbound flight before boarding.....I hope that makes sense....

yes great! I've used "onward ticket reservations" before and they do work. I just didn't know if you needed to prove your exit while applying for the entrance. Hopefully it's only needed at the airport
