TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether there are trustworthy services available to check if an individual is on Thailand's blacklist for immigration due to overstay. Participants suggest contacting the Immigration Bureau directly for accurate information, noting difficulties in getting timely responses. Some mentioned paid services previously available, although reliability and current availability are questioned. The conversation highlights the need for clarity on visa regulations and the implications of being blacklisted.
There are people who can offer a paid service, but there is always a doubt re the info they give. If you in Bangkok just take a copy of his/her passport (latest) and go down to Suan Plu, the IDC section are the guys who maintain the database.
Who? I still haven't received an answer to the original question. Is there a service that can assist in determining if a blacklist is legitimate?
The point if these threads is to make it searchable for anyone with similar questions in the future and instead I'm receiving answers that are unrelated or assuming.
And to clarify. This blacklist paper he was given has his name incorrectly spelled and his passport number isn't correct. I know that it is up to the immigration officer to decide and I don't know if this was a quiet pass or just someone not doing there job that day
Is there a service available to check? That's the question. There are likely others with the same question so it would be helpful to have answers related
That means he "turned himself in" meaning he went to the airport or the border to leave thailand on his own. That's the only way to get a 3 year blacklisting. If he was caught inside the country it'd have been 10 years
It's not me, it's my husband. He got it for overstay, a while back but when he got his letter, it had his information incorrectly filled out (by immigration). I received a job offer but I won't accept unless he would be able to join me. I assumed it was a no-go until his time is up but then he showed me the paperwork and it's scrambled.
