On a 30 day entry you go through immigration at the end of the 30 days. The plane leaves 2 hours into day 31.
Is this a problem. Asking for a friend. I feel be is OK.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus is that if your friend goes through immigration before midnight on the 30th day of their entry, they will be fine. However, if they go through after midnight, they could technically be considered in overstay, which might lead to a fine or a passport stamp indicating overstay. It's best to pass through immigration well before midnight to avoid any issues.
You'll see the end date on the passport stamp; it's up to immigration whether they'll consider that as the same day or an overstay already. They'll surely let him/her know.
If they passed through immigration prior to midnight on day 30, then they will be ok as have left Thailand and are effectively in no man's land.. so all will be fine.
If pass through immigration after midnight on day 30 then they will be on overstay..
well, if you pass Immigration after midnight, you are technically already on "overstay". For overstays under 24 hours, the 500.- THB fine gets waived, but you might get an ugly stamp into your passport. You should avoid that
