Is it allowed to do a same-day visa run to Cambodia and re-enter Thailand without staying overnight?
Is it safe to exit to Cambodia by plane and enter back Thailand the same day for the visa run? Anyone ever done this or has experience in this?

I think you'd better to check Cambodia visa (on arrival?), some airports requires you to stay overnight. At least that was what I heard when I traveled Cambodia 1.5 years ago.

OPSir, can I also do this by border? Like I drive to the Cambodia border, exit and after walking for an hour or two I come back to Thailand?

Not for a Visa run, you apply day 1 for a visa and get it back the next working day at the Thai Embassy or Consulate.
