Is there a difference between a medical check/certificate for teachers and non-teachers? The non-teachers one only checks for syphilis. Friend of mine told me that. Just curious, got everything checked already. ;)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether there is a distinction in medical check requirements for teachers versus non-teachers when applying for a work permit in Thailand. While some users speculate that the requirements are the same, with a basic check being sufficient, others highlight variations in health certificates related to different permit types, like those for driving licenses. Notably, a user's experience suggests that a basic health check at a lower cost sufficed, indicating that procedural requirements might not have significantly changed over time.

I had a 180 baht check at Medconsult and that was enough. No blood test etc.

From my knowledge, teachers or non teachers, all the same for Work Permit. Although different Health Certificate for WP then for a driving licence.

When did they introduce that?

I know I didn't need one (non teacher) to get my WP in

Well they don't in Chiang Mai. So it's good to know they do in Surat Thani.

- the government requires to test for lymphatic filariasis or elephantiasis which is done with a blood test.

As said before. What YOU do, where and how is totally irrelevant.

The question was: what is required by the Thai Government?
Joe ******
I'm not a doctor, I do not specifically ask them what tests they have to do. They do know what's required and do the tests, or at least the certificate accordingly. They ask me what I need it for and make the tests and until now, I had blood taken every time I did it in the hospital.

we're not talking about what you do or not. We're talking about what's required by the Thai government for a new or extansion of a WP. I live close to Bangkok Hospital CNX.... as long as I pay for it they do the works also but it's not required. Big difference.
Joe ******
I need to say like this. When I used to go to the clinic here, I just paid money and got a certificate. No tests what so ever but since I go to the Best Western Hospital here on KPG they do "teh works"

Yeah, vampire wants always some of my juice and I have a real needlophobia :-(

Health certificate (simple doc consultation) yes. But bloodworks too? I've always getting the health certificate for over a decade but the bloodworks was only asked between 2009 and 2013.
Joe ******
I just had my WP renewed (extended) for the 13th time in Surat Thani and I was asked for Health Certificate, like I had to do every year

Thanks.

I'm in Chiang Mai. Last time i did that blood test was 5 yrs ago. I get a new WP every 2 years. (Not new but extended)
Valère *************************
Not anymore. I didn't do that for the last 2 times. It's no longer a requirement.

In Krabi also for new WP application.
Sean ********
So just for the renewal? That's handy to know.

every year when you renew your work permit you need a medical certificate.

Are you asking about the medical certificate for getting a work permit?
