Hi. I have just had a teacher colleague who has been teaching here for a number of years return from his annual renewal of visa extension to be told he now has to get a police check every year? He was told this is a new requirement? Is this right? He is from Iraq so are they targeting certain countries? I was not asked for a police clearance again when I renewed last month?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether there is a new requirement for teachers in Thailand to present a police clearance certificate for every visa extension. A teacher from Iraq was informed about this requirement during his visa renewal, but responses indicate inconsistencies across various immigration offices. Some users confirm stricter enforcement in certain locations, while others have not been asked for such documentation. It appears that this may not be a nationwide policy but rather a local practice at specific immigration offices.
Sorry but it is time to close this topic, one school in Samutprakan is ask to hand over Police reports. The second, Had Yai Immigration, is just a make up. First everybody needs a police check and now the same person claims she never mentioned it. Now post coming up with regulations nothing to do with the country of origin of the person who is asked. So PLEASE, this page is to give out correct and up to date information. If one person get asked for additional documents it is NOT a nation wide NEW requirement. And if you like to contribute your experience and deny what you wrote a few hours later, this page is not the page for you. Sorry if it sounds rude and harsh, but creating panic is easy, to restore everything is much harder.
Who is shouting out new requirements? and I thought this was a site to try and find out what is going on for visa related issues? The facts are an official at Samutprakan has told our teacher and phoned our school t0 advise all visa extensions for teachers need to be accompanied by a new police check each time from the PCSCenter. So teachers be warned.
Joseph Michael Pedro III Thank you , yes please check. They are not asking for a check from your home country but one from the tourist police in Siam. It is all possible but it takes time to do.
As you know, the Consulates are under regime of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration Bureau is part of the Royal Thai Police. Total different in requirements and regulations.
This is the first time I read this, also the first time I read that in Had Yai everybody who applies for an Extension of Stay needs a Police check. If it really is a new requirement implemented nationwide, I expect lots of reactions very soon.
. As teachers we are aware we have to supply one for the first extension but never been asked for it for further extensions until my colleague was asked today.
As you know it can take a few days to get it so if this is a new requirement for teachers or others people need to know so they can prepare documents in time.
