Is the Thai eVisa process completely online, or do I need to visit an embassy?

Hi everyone. Has anyone here recently gotten a Thai eVisa and successfully entered Thailand with it?

I just want to confirm whether the eVisa process is completely online, or if there’s any point where you still need to physically visit a Thai embassy/consulate.

There’s no Thai embassy in my country, and even though the pop-up message on the eVisa website says that visa applicants are no longer required to submit passports or supporting documents in person, the “Apply at” field is still mandatory when filling out the application. The only option in the dropdown menu is the Thai embassy in Chile.

I just want to make sure I won’t suddenly be required to fly to Chile at some point of the process 😅

For context: I previously got a Thai tourist visa in 2024, but that was before the eVisa system was introduced. At the time, I was living and working in Qatar, so I could easily visit the Thai embassy there in person.

Without knowing your citizenship, I cannot give you a solid advice.

Citizens of SOME countries have to fulfill extraordinary and special requirements outlined on the websites of the Thai embassy or consulate whose online E-Visa system they are required to use.

If you need to apply by the e-visa system of your neighbor country because there is no Thai embassy in your country, depends on several situations:

*** You can apply for a single-entry tourist e-visa online EVERYWHERE in the World but you must physically be inside that country and prove it

*** you can apply for a 90-days Non-Imm-O retirement or family visa EVERYWHERE in the World if you can fulfill the requirements AND if you are physically inside this country.
