TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are on a tourist visa in Thailand that is about to expire, you can apply for another visa without necessarily needing to leave the country, provided you still have time left on your current visa and qualify for the new visa type. You may extend your tourist visa for up to 30 days at a local immigration office or leave the country and re-enter for another stamp (usually 60 days plus an extension). However, you cannot apply for another tourist visa directly from within Thailand. If you leave, you can re-enter using visa exempt entry, which offers a 60-day period for many nationalities. For long-term options, consider a DTV or retirement visa.

You can go out and in and get another stamp. I recommend Phnom Penh, cheap and fun city!

You can apply for another visa from a tourist visa if you have enough time left and qualify for the other visa you want to apply for. It can't be another tourist visa but could be, for example, a retirement visa

I guess you could go to a nearby embassy and apply for a non-o there but you're still going to need money in the bank, although you might be able to use your home bank. You could then open a bank account and transfer the money in for the extension. But if you don't have the money anyway then you'll need to find an agent to accommodate

Do you really have an actual single entry tourist visa, which grants a 60 day stay per entry? This visa is largely irrelevant for most people, now that visa exempt entry gives a free 60 day stay to 93 different nationalities, including Brits. Unless you have a special situation where you needed a tourist visa, just enter via visa exempt entry by just showing your passport and being stamped in free.

Go for DTV visa if your looking long term. Chat with Sharon at EVO360 and become a muay Thai trainee ... Best way to enjoy Thailand ...

So you have to enrol for 6 months and then you don't have to do it anymore and stay in Thailand?

@Greta ****
yes, so far everyone doing it only enrolls 6 months course and able to get the 5yr visa. Not sure if they will ask for extensions or northeastern in the future, but should be ok for 5yrs time at least. Lots of people doing it and successful, see DTV group of interested in entire process.

How long do you need to enroll for in order to qualify?

6 months is 20k Thai n

Baby ... Good for up to 5 yrs visa checking in every 90 days to immigration, then doing a bordwr run every 6 months ...

A tourist visa or a visa exempt entry would have given you a 60 day stamp on arrival. You can extend that once at a local immigration office for a further 30 days.

If you’ve already used that option then you can simply leave and re-enter for another 60 days (plus 30).

You don’t need to go to a UK embassy - they don’t do visas for Thailand.
