Help! I'm unable to reach the Thai embassy in Laos by phone, and when I try to email, the email bounces back. Anyone know a.) whether they're currently operational, and b.) how many days it takes to get a Thai tourist visa at the embassy there?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai embassy in Laos, specifically in Vientiane, is operational, and the processing time for a tourist visa is three working days. Alternatively, at the consulate in Savannakhet, the processing time is two working days. It's important to note that you need to book an appointment for applying at Vientiane and show proof of funds in a bank account. In Savannakhet, the procedure is more straightforward, requiring only proof of funds on the application date.
Okay just so EVERYONE is on the same page in the coloring book and we're all using the same box of crayonz ๐
At the thai consulate in Vientiane they have a THREE WORKING DAY processing time including the day you turn in the application (apply-Mon, pick up-Wed) so by working day I mean weekends and holidays do not count
At the thai consulate in Savannakhet they have a TWO WORKING DAY processing time including the day you turn in the application (apply-Mon, pick up- Tues) and again by working days I mean weekends and holidays do not count.
but when was the last time you were at the thai consulate in Vientiane that had 2 day processing time ?
The Vientiane consulate has had a 3 day processing time with mandatory appointment booking since before the Thai/Lao border closed in March 2020 and it's ONLY Savannakhet has walk up service with 2 day turn around.
actually I'd say she should go to Savannakhet because their financial requirements are just money in the bank on the date you apply AND they have a walk up service without an appointment AND they have a faster turn around ๐
And just so you know those consulates have been open (even thru covid) it's just no one could get IN to Lao or back in to thailand to use them ๐ They've been running okay since Lao opened up no issues at all

At the thai consulate in Savannakhet you only need to show the 20K baht in the bank on the date you apply (no 3 month statement or anything) and it is walk up service, with two day turn around <- example; turn in your passport on Monday morning, get it back Tuesday afternoon;
At the consulate in Vientiane you need to have 20K baht in a bank account for the last 3 months AND you need to make an online appointment or you can't get in the gate to apply. They also have a 3 day turn around, <- example; turn in your passport on Monday morning, get it back Wednesday afternoon;
Whoah, this is good info, thank you so much. Hang on though, how would someone have a Thai bank account if they're just applying for a Thai tourist visa?!
sorry you can show the monthly balance records of your primary bank account overseas, sorry I'm so used to writing "in a thai bank account in your name only" when I post advice i didn't catch that it's just proof of funds in A bank account.
