TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses various experiences and opinions regarding the processing times for the NON-B visa in Thailand, especially compared to past methods of application. Comments reveal that while some individuals had relatively quick processing times (7 to 10 working days), others express frustration with delays caused by the online application system, which they feel has become less reliable. Users recall that pre-online submissions allowed for better planning with predictable timelines, contrasting them with the current unpredictability that hampers travel plans. The dialogue also touches upon the potential for limiting visa applications and the impact of digital applications on wait times.

Also beware that HCMC consulate are resetting the minimum processing days every time they request extra documents. A nightmare because you have to change flights

Exactly this your asking for whatever visa to there country.

They didn't ask you to apply you asked them.

So it's quite simple really

Apply and wait there is plenty to do in and around in Laos.

Relax and look at it as a holiday.

Those who feel entitled to quicker service ask yourself why should you be? What's special about you.

The world and people in it are in so much of a rush nowadays.

Just sit back and chill

Do you notice how, pre on-line visa submissions, it generally took 48 hours to process, AND you had a service level that you could rely on enough to book hotel and flights accordingly.

Now, with online processes, that are supposed to be more efficient, processing times have gone through the roof, AND you cannot rely on them even then, so you cannot confidently book flights and hotels.

Jim Flanagan I prefer the OG way too. Now with these online applications where you don't have any human contact it's easier to backlog applications and the queue gets bigger. This isn't just with Thai visas but other visas too where the process has been digitalized. Not bashing the Thai e-visa process at all. Just saying in general I much preferred having my passport taken. It seemed faster back then.

in person they could limit the number of people or stop accepting applications. They can't do that anymore. They also didn't have everyone and their grandma going to apply for a DTV.

both fair points, but of course they can limit the number of allocations - it would be a very simply change to introduce a daily/weekly limit on applications. They just simply chose not to introduce such limits.

I do also agree with your broader point re the number of applications probably having gone through the roof. It would be very interesting to see the volume of applications pre DTV compared to now - seems to me that DTVs have attracted exactly the sort of people they were always trying to discourage.

My friends renewed their non-B visa last month and it took 7 and 10 working days for each of them, despite submitting in advance, although working for separate companies.

They were aware of the extra time needed and had contingency plans for whatever delay arose.

All worked out well in the end.

Cary Vignal You could never get a visa in an hour even in the old days. You could bounce in and out with a multi entry visa or visa exemption
