Hi, does anyone know if the new STV ( short term tourist visa) is the same as the previously offered STV (special tourist visa)? There isn't much info on the Canadian Thai consulate website. I specifically would like to know what is involved when extending the visa for the next 2 times. Also if anyone has applied using their Thai yellow house book as proof of post Quarantine accommodation. I have tried to check a couple of other sites however, they are only showing info about the old STV program and nothing about the new one. Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The new STV (Short Term Tourist Visa) is essentially the same as the previously offered STV (Special Tourist Visa), with the main difference being an extension of the authority for Thai embassies to issue the visa for another year. However, there are still references to the ASQ (Alternative State Quarantine) requirement on the Thai embassy website, indicating that some protocols may not have changed yet.

I was wondering about this as well. I'm thinking of doing the STV. The Thai embassy website still specifically refers to the ASQ requirement (14 days, etc.). With things opening up, I wonder if this is going to change. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

The NEW STV visa is the same as before... Just that it's authority for Thai Embassy's to issue visa was extended for one year.
