I’ve started an application for an STV visa on the thaievisa website. I’m hesitant to proceed without some clarification though.
I lived in Thailand from 2019-2021 and I was under the impression that an SETV (single entry tourist visa) would be my best/standard option for this trip. However, the website only shows an “STV” option, which I *think?* is the special tourist visa (which I thought they were doing away with)
Can anyone confirm what visa I’m actually applying for with STV on the thaievisa site, and how long that visa will be valid for?
Thanks in advance! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies the difference between the STV (Special Tourist Visa) and SETV (Single Entry Tourist Visa). The SETV is valid for 3 months, granting 60 days on entry, extendable for another 30 days. In contrast, the STV allows a 90-day entry with the possibility of two extensions, each for an additional 90 days, but has strict conditions such as required accommodation and insurance.

SETV is valid for 3 months from issue. On entry you’d get 60 days, which is extendable once for a further 30 days in country.
The STV would give you 90 days on entry and is extendable twice, each for another 90 days. However it has horrendous conditions attached which include fully paid up accommodation and insurance for the whole time.
