This might be a newbie question, but is the STV required for a stay of less than 30 days? I am a Canadian citizen.

It seems like a simple question, but I have not been able to find a clear answer online.

In the past (pre-Covid) I used to go to Thailand and did not require a visa for stays shorter than 30 days. With the Covid rules, its no longer clear to me.

I do know about the ASQ and already have that booked for June. I am also in the process of applying for the COE (Cetification of Entry).

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian citizen does not require the STV (Special Tourist Visa) for stays shorter than 30 days in Thailand. Canadians are eligible for a visa exemption that allows for a 45-day stay without a visa, plus an option for a 30-day extension. However, entry requirements, including the COE (Certificate of Entry), must still be met.

I’m Canadian too and going next week without a visa (visa exempt). Can stay up to 45 days. Plus a 30 day extension if you want. But I do have the COE. As long as you follow the COE instructions, you’re good:

Don't get the STV, or STD as it's being called. Get a normal tourist visa.

You do not need STV. Visa exempt and tourist visa are available. I assume Canada would probably have 30 day visa exempt (currently 45 days plus 30 extension).

You still need COE and meet all the requirements for entry.
