Do you know if it needs to be exactly 500,000 baht? Some say it's $15,000 and others say €15,000, but that doesn't match since 500,000 baht is actually around €13,500 🙏🏼
Answer summary
There is confusion regarding the minimum bank balance needed for certain Thai visas, with some sources stating 500,000 baht, while others mention equivalent amounts in USD or EUR, leading to differing interpretations. Comments emphasize that the exact amount required can depend on the specific Thai embassy or consulate, which may have varying financial requirements. It is generally advised to refer to the local embassy's guidelines and maintain an amount slightly above 500,000 baht to account for currency fluctuations.

To be able to stay always above 500K you should hold something around 550k to absolutely be immune to any Market currency fluctuations. Don't let 50,000 k to ruin your visa application and don't play with the rules. My advice.
CornyME123 - conversion was never at that rate. If you look back at 2024 it was 1 dollar equals 36. For 500k to equal 17,000usd it would need to be down in the 1 dollar = 29 baht range. Where and when did you get your DTV?
DTV_BegPecker they may have written that when conversion was higher. But the conversion rate for 500,000 THB now is $15,300. I also was recently approved and just had $15,000 USD
CornyME123 If you look at the local embassy/consulate’s website, it will tell you the current minimum in their respective jurisdiction. Go to the Thai Consulate website for Los Angeles. They don’t simply look at the current exchange rate.
Currency depreciation can occur overnight. Also, not everyone uses same website to check.
Embassy in every country gets a rough number in local currency. That number is assumably over 500K to give room for these points. You must must keep at least 20-30K Baht more.
well that’s the point. 500k baht. Not EUR, not USD.
That said different embassies list different requirements. Different embassies have different requirements in general. Always go by what the local embassy is requiring….
