Hi guys,

I’d like to apply for the DTV visa (soft power) in Vientiane, Laos. I meet all the requirements, but I am currently unemployed. Do you also need to show a stable monthly income in Laos, or is having a large amount of savings in the bank (well over 500,000 THB) sufficient? Thankyouu

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa (soft power) allows for applicants to be unemployed, and having a substantial amount of savings over 500,000 THB is generally considered sufficient. However, there may be a requirement to demonstrate a plan for financial support during the visa's duration. Applicants should be prepared to provide access to their bank account during an interview at the embassy in Laos, as this is a common verification method.

Laos will require an interview which will work in your favor if you're worried about the strength of your application. Be prepared to login to your bank account on your phone to show embassy staff in Vientiane, this is apparently how they verify.

Being employed is not a must. Having sufficient savings over 500K is ok!

Be aware that they may ask to see how you plan to support yourself over the lifetime of the visa. But I guess it will depend on what you mean by well over 500k

No problem being unemployed for the SP DTV. Having substantial savings strengthens your application.
