What is the required duration for holding 500,000 THB for DTV approval at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi?

Hi! I’ve been reading posts here about DTV approvals and rejections at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi. Most posts are anonymous, and only a few include actual profiles.

The embassy website doesn’t clearly state how long the 500,000 THB must be held in the account. I’ve seen people say they were rejected with 3–6 months seasoned funds, and others say they were approved with just 7 days or with 2–6 months seasoned.

If you recently got approved for the DTV in Hanoi, could you please confirm which is true (preferably with a non-anonymous profile)? TIA! 💖

TLDR : Answer Summary
There is confusion regarding the duration that the 500,000 THB must be held in the account for a DTV application at the Thai Embassy in Hanoi. While some applicants report being approved with funds held for only 10 days, others claim to have been rejected despite holding the funds for up to 7 months. The embassy's website does not provide clear guidelines on this matter. Many suggest that the overall presentation of the application and supporting documents plays a significant role in the approval process.

Based on posts, one person got rejected with 7 months seasoned funds and there are cases with people getting approved with money sitting in for just 10 days.

While seasoned funds help but the overall application and the way it's presented also makes a difference.

Couple of posts have come in today with approvals from HCMC. You might want to check them out and replicate if you deem fit.

i got approved in hanoi last month, i had the total 500k in my account only 10 days before i applied. submitted 4 months of bank statements just because December’s didn’t have any activity and each month got less and less, September’s was like 200k baht. doesn’t state anywhere in hanoi’s website you have to hold that money for 3 months in a row, i think people are just confusing the 3-6 bank statement requirement with needing the 500k for 3-6 months minimum. i think if you needed this for a minimum time it would explicitly say it somewhere x

Thank you 🙏🏼 It’s just very confusing to me. An agent from a well-known firm told me specifically that the 500k THB must be seasoned for 6 months, but when I checked the embassy website, it doesn’t say that anywhere.

i know it does depends on the embassy, some are stricter than others, but hanoi are known for not needing it for 3 months in a row, not sure where this even came from tbh 🤣 your best bet is just looking through this page and make your own judgement, that’s what i did x

Both are true. Since the embassies don't give information on rejections we can only summize that the documents were insufficient, not necessarily the funds. Vientiane is pretty straightforward 3 months of holding a balance of 500K

You didn't mention which DTV scheme you'd be applying through. It helps to have an organized document presentation with a very brief cover letter explaining the documents and your DTV goals.
