TLDR : Answer Summary
Thailand currently provides a 30-day visa exemption on entry for eligible passport holders. There was a temporary change allowing an extension to 45 days, but it has reverted to the standard 30 days. For a 60-day stay, travelers must apply for a tourist visa (TR60) from a Thai embassy or consulate before arrival. Travelers can also extend their 30-day stay by an additional 30 days once in Thailand.

depends on which country. We just applied for our 60 day Thai visa in Cambodia and it is not online, had to drop the filled in form at the embassy. Picked up our passports 3 working days later.

I didn't think you could apply for a 60 day tourist visa when already in Thailand. The advice I got from the Thai Embassy was you had to apply outside of Thailand. If that's not correct I would love to know for future reference.

Entitled passport holders will be granted 30 days visa exemption on arrival if no (other) visa. The 30 days may be extended by further 30 days at Immigration. But you will still need an onward ticket within 30 days to board most airlines.

that is really not true. I’ve flown in on various airlines in the past few months and was never asked for on onward ticket before boarding and never had it happen in the past 8 years.

, there are dozens of such reports even some airlines don't ask for onward tickets. I have tried it myself several times.

A 60 day visa has never been offered on entry. There was a temporary increase of Visa Exempt (not a visa) to 45 days, but it's been back to 30 days for a long time.

If you want 60 days you need to apply for a tourist visa before you travel to Thailand.
