Do you get an extra 15 days on a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand?

Simple question for anyone in this Group who has entered Thailand recently with a 60 day tourist visa. (I know all about what might happen on the 31st March but that’s not the question)

Do you get the extra 15 days (like visa exemption visa) making it 75 days or do you just get 60 days and that’s it.

Answers only from people who have actually experienced this visa situation.

Thanks 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
When entering Thailand on a 60-day tourist visa, you do not receive an extra 15 days as you might with a visa exemption. The initial stay is strictly 60 days, but it can be extended by an additional 30 days at a local immigration office for a fee of 1,900 THB. This means the maximum stay can be up to 90 days if you extend. Several comments also caution that extensions may vary based on nationality, and some travelers have had issues with border runs due to strict enforcement.

You can extend your visa for 30 more days but people who are traveling from the countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Iran, Nepal, Togo, Nigeria, Uganda, etc. can extend only for 7 days. The price of the visa is 1,900 baht whether you extend it for 30 days or 7 days.

To your question- you can't extend more than 60 days unless you hold a special visa or have some health or other issues. The 90-day Special Tourist Visa (STV), which allows two 90-day visa extensions at the local immigration office. There are certain requirements needed for the STV, but it allows a visitor to stay in Thailand for up to 9 months.

I am currently in Phuket on a 60 day Tourist Visa. I see a fair queue of people outside Patong immigration office. If I want a 30 day extension, are there better times to attend than others? Any tips welcome.

Current in Thailand

We entered on the 60 day Tourist visa, renewed it in Patong Beach at immigration

Needed a copy of our passport, a passport picture , $1900 baht

Dropped it off in the morning , picked it up in the afternoon

Super easy we got additional 30 days , so 90 day’s total

I know but that is not the question!

You just get 60 days.

So that’s real no incentive to go for the tourist visa for an extra £30 plus all the admin.

Only benefit is if it reverts back to 30 day’s exemption visa 🙄

plus the 30day extension. Or if you fly out and back in 45 days. Two extensions visa exempt at land borders per calendar year.

That’s what I’ve done, entered on a 60 day tr visa from uk on
*****
/22, extended it with 30 days, done a border run/bounce for another 45 days, and another planed soon for another 45 visa exempt days,. The 60 day tr visa is worth it if only for a few extra days, Evisa from uk Thai embassy,. Took a couple of days,.

I wouldn't recommend border run/ bounce at the moment, they are really strict on it now, a couple of days ago I did this and the immigration officers at the airport wouldn't allow me and my family in Thailand without proof of a flight back home, we had to wait about an hour and a half after our flight to try and sort it out with the immigration and even after that they weren't happy at all, I would recommend getting a visa if you want to stay longer, that is what we are currently doing, its really not worth the risk

@Оливер ********
that wasn't OP's question.

Look at Immigration stamp in your passport??

Extend for 30 days at a local immigration office for 1900 THB - total of 90 days.

Take a passport pic and copies of your passport pages.

You do not get 15 days extra off a tourist visa. It’s 60 days on entry.

Both the tourist visa entry and the (currently 45 day) visa exempt entries are eligible for a 30 day extension from a local immigration office.

@Geoff *******
so currently no real benefit of the TR visa. 15 days extra for all the admin and £30

No wonder the embassy in London have a 3 day turnaround no one is applying except me 😡
Stuart *********
@Stephen ******************

My friend got a 15 day extension back in Feb. with his 60 day tourist visa.

@Mark ********
there is no such thing as a 15 day extension. You either are granted 30 days or if rejected, granted 7 days extra to depart. There's no in between. Don't argue with

Sounds like your friend got a 30 day tourist extension and had a flight leaving 15 days later, that's not a 15 day extension
