Is leaving Thailand for 4 days enough to obtain a new 45-day entry stamp upon returning?

I am a US citizen. I entered on a 45 day entry stamp and have received a 30 day extension. I am flying to Vietnam on the last day of the extension and intend to fly back in after 4 days for another 45 day stamp. Is 4 days out of Thailand enough time or do I need to stay longer?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen with a 45-day entry stamp and a 30-day extension is considering flying to Vietnam for 4 days and returning to Thailand for another 45-day stamp. Community members suggest that leaving for 4 days could be sufficient, but it ultimately depends on the passport control officer's discretion. It's also recommended to have onward travel plans to avoid potential issues upon re-entry. Alternatively, some suggest it's possible to exit and re-enter Thailand by land, allowing for multiple visa-exempt entries within the calendar year.

If this current 45 day stamp and the 30 day extension is your ONLY entry to thailand you should have no issues flying out and then back BUT it comes down to the officer you get at passport control when you stamp in here whether you'll be hassled or not.

I'd definitely have onward travel within 45 days of your arrival (which is a requirement if you're asked when you fly in visa exempt) Other than that you should be okay.

IF the only reason you're going to Vietnam is so you can turn around and come back in on a new visa exempt 45 day stamp I'd say forgo the trip entirely ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Just bounce out and back by land to get a new 45 day visa exempt entry stamp.

You can get TWO visa exempt entries by land in a calendar year Jan 1 - Dec 31.
