Greetings, I'm a US citizen. What are the odds of my being granted the 30 day extension if I arrive on a 60 day visa (it is apparently at the discresion of an immigration agent). For my visa application into Thailand, I wanted to purchase a roundtrip ticket to Vietnam to meet the exit ticket requirements....two possible problems wtih this: Am I allowed to come back to thailand that soon? (I understand I'm only allowed 90 days in a six month period. Thank you so much.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen can generally expect to receive a 30-day extension on their 60-day tourist visa without issue, provided they apply at the immigration office and pay the fee of 1900 baht. There are no specific rules limiting the number of days allowed in Thailand over a six-month period or barring immediate return after visiting a neighboring country like Vietnam. Therefore, traveling back to Thailand shortly after leaving should be permissible.
