Went to CW today get an extension, Thai Wife from my 90 day Non O Thai wife . I got it but they also said I have to come back in a month. I was a little surprised by that and also the need to also have bank book updated on that day. I was thinking I’d get the extension and then be all set for a year.

Is it standard practice to have to return after a month? I suppose that also means you have to have 400k in a thai bank for at least 3 months.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When extending a Non O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen, it is standard practice to return to the immigration office after one month to complete the extension process. This includes updating your bank book and a possible home visit by immigration officials. Most respondents confirmed that this is a common procedure at Chaengwattana, even noting minor differences in procedures at other offices.

The 30 day under consideration is done at EVERY immigration office when you get an extension based on marriage

The update your bank book and bring it and a copy of it back when that stamp is up to get the year extension inked in is a Chaengwattana thing only πŸ˜• no other office does it

in Siracha, they do it too

keep in mind during that 30 day under considerations stamp (which is actually the first month of your new yearly extension) they CAN come and do an in home visit but if they're going to do that they'll call and set a date time for it

Also they may want to do a home visit in that month. Usually they'll call and let you know if they are coming

That is pretty standard process for a 1-year extension based on being married to a Thai national.

Don't be surprised. Just go back to the Immigration office on that day as instructed.

ok glad to hear it’s standard. Just never read about that here before. I start my 90 day reports in May. Is it worth trying the new online system, it will be my first?
Richard *******
@Evan *******
Your first 90 day report MUST be in person. After that you can use the online system.

actually my wife whilst at CW asked the officer doing my extension about it and she said do it online so I’ll see!πŸ˜€πŸ€ž

I don't see much downside to trying online. If it got rejected, you just go to the immigration office to report, when you do in person.
