Is it standard practice for my wife to be present when extending my Non-Imm O visa for marriage at immigration?

ORIGINAL POSTER
I went to Kanchanaburi immigration with all the correct paperwork to extend my non-imm o visa for marriage for 60 days. I was told that they would not process my extension without the presence of my wife, despite having originals and photocopies of all the marriage paperwork. So I had to go all the way back home, pick up my wife and make her sit in a crowded immigration office for an hour and a half, before handing over exactly the same documents. Is this standard practice? I got the original one year visa in Laos without the presence of my wife!

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an extension of a Non-Imm O visa based on marriage, it is standard practice for the Thai immigration office to require the presence of the applicant's spouse. This requirement may differ from initial applications, as noted by the user who received their original visa without their spouse being present.

To answer the question YES, it is common procedure

For Extension of Stay based on marriage the wedded partner has to be there.

For Extension of STay based on depending or guardian of Children, the children have to be there.

Etc.
