In early January I applied for a 12 month extension to my Non O visa based on having a Thai wife. I was told my application would be under consideration and I should return on 5th February. I have had the visit to the family home by the immigration Police and was asked to submit an update of my bank book showing 400K+, just last week.
On the 5th I duly reported to the Samui Immigration and was told the visa was not ready but I should telephone on Monday to see it is ready then. Today my wife called and she was told it was still not ready and she should call back again. When she asked when to call back she was told to call everyday. When she asked how much longer the visa was likely to take, the immigration lady said she did not know. When my wife tried to ask another question she was cut off.
My question is, Is a delay to issuing a Thai Wife visa extension quite normal?? Just worried the ding-dong my wife had with a very rude immigration employee, in January, may be having some effect !!!!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquired about the normalcy of delays in receiving a Thai Wife visa extension after facing multiple setbacks in communication with immigration officials. Many community members responded, indicating that such delays are common in the visa extension process and can often be attributed to the volume of applications being processed. Additionally, community members noted the requirement of demonstrating a stable bank balance of 400,000 THB during the application process, reinforcing that there can be a lengthy timeframe before the final decision is communicated.
