TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed concern about not receiving a new 6-month stamp upon re-entering Thailand, as the immigration officer used the date of the first stamp instead. Comments suggest that this is an unusual mistake and advise verifying stamps at the counter before leaving. Some users pointed out that even if this occurs, travelers can still receive an extension upon re-entry, depending on the visa type.

You will be granted for 6 months period per entry, even you go out for 1day and return. they will grant for another 6 months. Not from the first stamp
Kamal *********
Anonymous participant 874 do you mean if I got the visa, it’s going to be stamped for 6month and I go out again and coming back and it will be stamp for 6month again for the 5 years duration?
Anonymous ******************
@Kamal ********
yes correct,
Michael ********
Everyone’s telling OP “go back to the booth” but how? Most likely they made this post after. Anyways if you walk past immigration and then past security in the airport it’ll be extra difficult… So in this case should OP go to immigration office? Yes it’s a good idea to check your stamp before leaving the counter, but if you forget, what’s the next step?
Romain ****
@Michael *******
go to immigration have it fixed if you’re needing to leave later than this date. If not, just exit with the wrong stamp it’s fine, anyway the right allowance should be in the system
Han *****
I think there might’ve been some confusion. We already got the second stamp for the DTV visa, and it’s valid for 180 days from the day you land at the airport.
Romain ****
@Han ****
when OP entered 1st November 2024, stamp is right with 9th may 2025. But when entered yesterday, stamp should have been 27 June or something like that,
Han *****
@Romain ***
That’s correct. I returned to Thailand on December 18th and got a stamp valid until June 15th.

Every time you go in and out - you get 60 days more???

@Julie *****
60 days is visa exemption for most countries
Cissi *********
@Julie *****
no! The DTV-holder get to stay up to 180 days each time they enter Thailand.

@Cissi ********
thank you
Kamal *********
@Cissi ********
so I have to leave before my visa expires for the 180 duration and come back in to Thailand yah?
Cissi *********
@Kamal ********
well, your visa is valid for 5 years, but it gives you a permit to stay for 180 days... Your permit to stay expires on day 180, so yes, you need to leave before that OR go to an immigration office to extend your permit to stay for up to another 180 days. This can only be done once per entry. Technically you can stay up to 360 days IF you get an extension. Up until now, no one really knows what will be required in order to get the extension (180 days has not passed since DTV was launched), but it will be possible to extend if you meet the requirments.
Kamal *********
@Cissi ********
this is clear now and it’s really helpful. Bless you

@Cissi ********
what if I don’t go out for the 5 years duration?
Cissi *********
@Kamal ********
the visa is a multientry visa, valid for 5 years allowing you to stay 180 days on each entry. It does not allow you to stay for 5 years! If you do, you will be fined and banned from entering Thailand for 10 years... Or you will get caught sometime during those 5 years = detained at IDC, procecuted, fined, deported at your own expense and banned.

@Kamal ********
then you’ll be overstaying after the first 180 days (except if you are doing an extensions then it’ll be after 360 days) and you’ll face multiple charge also you’ll be banned from Thailand

Hey did you need a re entry stamp when leaving ? Thx
Romain ****
@Fabianski *********
re entry permit is for single entry visa not for DTV that is multiple entry so already include the re entry
Cissi *********
@Fabianski *********
it is a multientry visa = no need for re entry permit.

Go back to the booth

Clearly the officer made a mistake. It is a “strange” mistake though. Others have mentioned how to correct, but if you plan to travel internationally before May 9th it doesn’t matter
Romain ****
Oui il a fait une erreur, mais c’est ta responsabilité de vérifier le tampon avant de partir, systématiquement !

Anonymous participant should take a few minutes. They will see the error.

Is there a STAMP of the DTV Visa PASTED in your passport ?

Or did you receive an email from the Thai Embassy or Consulate where you applied for the DTV visa?

If by email... PRINT IT OUT and SHOW IT TO THE THAI IMMIGRATION OFFICER EACH time you enter Thailand.

Then look at the STAMP the Thai Immigration Officer puts in your passport to be sure it was for 180 days.
