ORIGINAL POSTER
Just came back into Thailand on a re-entry permit. Out of 5 of us 2 had their passports stamped wrongly. So just a reminder (again) to everyone to check passport before leaving the building.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post serves as a reminder to travelers in Thailand to carefully check their passport stamps upon re-entry, highlighting the importance of verifying the correct number of days permitted for stay. It discusses potential errors, especially with stamps from land borders versus airports, and emphasizes the responsibility of the traveler to ensure accuracy before leaving the immigration area.

True. Always check before you leave the counter. My last entry to the country, even though I handed the IO my passport with the page where the extension of my non OA and re-entry permit are, the IO didnโ€™t pay attention and gave me 30 day stay on visa exemption.

I was only aware of the mistake when I was home and checked it. Eventually, I had to go back to the airport and had it fixed.

A senior IO apologised to me though.

I check it right behind their work stations. Itโ€™s much easier to go back to the agent immediately.

Also remember people if you are stamped in wrong (especially if it's MORE days than you're supposed to get) you cannot stay until that stamp runs out. ๐Ÿ™ You WILL be charged for overstay when you leave..

It is 100% your responsibility to check the stamp, know how many days you're supposed to be stamped in for and get it corrected if you're stamped in wrong.. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

What was wrong with the stamp?

people get stamped in on the wrong stamp, for the wrong amount of time quite a LOT.. Especially when people come back with a re-entry permit (meaning they are on an extension of stay) and don't have that page of the passport OPEN when they hand it to the officer. Many times they don't look, just stamp someone in on a free entry rather than the date on the re-entry permit

that's why we always recommend that people LOOK at the stamp in their passport BEFORE they leave the stamp in desk.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Remember bad entry stamps at the airport can usually be corrected at ANY immigration office where as 99% of the time bad entry stamps from land borders have to go back to that border to correct

Thanx for reminding us ๐Ÿ™‚
