TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion centers around the availability of coin deposit machines in Thailand, with some participants arguing that they have seen machines pop up, particularly in Bangkok, and suggesting alternatives such as using coins at local vendors or 7-11 stores. While some claim that coins are becoming less useful due to the rise of digital payments, several commenters assert that there are indeed places willing to accept and exchange coins. Confusion persists regarding bank policies on coin deposit, as several users share differing experiences.

Taxi drivers and mototaxi scammers claim to have an endless amount of large notes only, with no coins change at all, ever! Why dont you ask them?

coin deposit machines are available along the streets at every city.. they are changing any coins into tap- water 😅

Visit a small vendor, they love small coins, ask if they need change for customers they will gladly change up, same for loads of 20฿
Nah that's a common misconception. This fictitious 'coin shortage' claimed by every vendor in Thailand is just so they hope the westerner will say 'keep the change' because a lot of people are too lazy to wait for 25 baht change and they hope they can keep it for themselves.
Lotus does. Hands them out too. I had a 40b voucher the other day. Couldn’t find anything for 40b so I bought 40.75 and gave them 1b coin. The check out lady and her supervisor who I both know well were laughing. So this is all nonsense about not being able to use coins. Typical of FB of course. Most FB responses are nonsense from the clueless when you know something about the topic.
Drop your baht into this little mechanism, then proceed to Nana Plaza! Once lit, yer cash will never even hit the floor, it's clean, it's efficient, and unlike your dimes, you'll be cruisin' for a bruisin'
But that would require a brain. Actually I use them at the drinks machine at the car dealer. The mechanics love the Singha lemon sodas. They love me too it seems. Half the time they fix things for free. Coins are fantastic for keeping people happy. But a lot of people don’t understand social skills.
Thanks for agreeing with my sarcasm. It does work rather well though. I bet no one else tips the mechanics like this. And no one else gets stuff done for free. My mother would have said not to say this in public. She was always right of course! 5555
I’m sure my wife and I are the rare exception… when the PEA crew pulled in our power and set a transformer we took them all cold drinks. Same with our construction crew. Once or twice a week… ever couple of weeks we feed them lunch. A small token of our appreciation of their hard work.
When the tea and sodas are handed out I do it. I’m their equal not some grand poo-bah.

Think about how denomination works here then rethink your post! 🤦🏼♂️
is collect coins in a jar and regularly put them in a ziplock bag and bring them with me when i take the BTS. I bet with condo security or other people how much they think it is. They always say too much and i win almost every time but my rabbit card is happy about it

7-11s serve the same purpose. Every 7-11 loves coins. Count them into bags of 100 baht and use them to pay for things at 7-11. The clerks will be glad to accept the coins.

You can drop them at the bank and they will run it through the machine.
not my experience. I went to the bank with all my coins, and they handed me small plastic bags with rubber bands to take home and sort myself. 100 baht per bag. Same coins in each bag.
I did that and took them back, but they were no longer taking coins.
You’re a fascist ronnie and even though ur not from Korea that’s definitely the place for u.
I’m free as a bird and live here there and everywhere

Sadly it's the way the world is going. Like it or lump it. I have a Tupperware at home full to the brim with coins from god knows how many or which countries. They will never ever get used. One day I shall throw them all into a charity box at the airport.

Pava Scotty yep. Behave and do as you’re told or we will put imitations on your children and grand children’s future aspirations. Be a good citizen; or else. Freedoms are being taken away.

Pava Scotty I would love more control and more cameras on streets and inside shops......
if you do something illegal on the cameras, you get a fine which is withdrawn from your bank right away ... like in china

otherwise I go to Thailand and live in the jungle

Being flippant. But coins are increasingly becoming redundant. As is all cash including notes.
I’ve checked your link seems just 4 machines located at BTSes and they ain’t any deposit feature just top up and e-vouchers, machines make life easier what I’m wondering why ain’t available here same in the other countries !!

They just need to upgrade CDM to accept coins if we talk about banks otherwise there are 10% fee so it can be a business itself
they use to have these coin counting machines at banks, they got rid of them. So clearly it wasn't worthwhile for the banks. There might still be one left at SCBX Park.
because staff is expensive in other countries. Staff is dirt cheap in Thailand. Why pay for an expensive machine when you can just have a staff member do it for minimum wage.
