Hello all,

I'm a Canadian, but I have an Indonesian bank account with Permata Bank. I noticed that Bangkok Bank actually owns Permata, so I'm wondering if anyone knows whether using a Bangkok Bank atm with my Permata card will wave the fee associated with using a foreign card? I emailed Bangkok Bank to ask, but I haven't received a response yet. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, a Canadian expat, inquired if using a Permata Bank card at a Bangkok Bank ATM would waive foreign card fees, given that the former is owned by the latter. Responses indicate that foreign card transactions typically incur fees, suggesting the same will likely apply in this case. Additionally, there was a suggestion to minimize ATM usage and use cash instead.

The last 3 days were public holidays in BKK, so give it a few more days for Bangkok Bank to respond to you or call them on Monday

Thanks so much for the information. I guess I'll be bringing some cash and minimizing my ATM usage.

No is the answer ....if you use a bank card from a different part of Thailand you get charged a fee for atm use

Typically any foreign card anywhere attracts a fee, be very surprised if not

I don't know the answer but I'd be very surprised given that even using the same bank outside your home province results in charges.
