I got my DTV in March of this year. I did a 90 day report today and the immigration officer that helped me said that I shouldn't apply for a 6 month extension in September, and that I "should just leave and come back because it's easier, everyone with DTV does this."
Anyone have any experience with applying for the 6 month extension? 1900b for another 6 months sounds cheaper and easier than flying out and back in or doing a border run service every 6 months.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether to apply for a 6-month extension of a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) or to conduct a border run instead. The immigration officer advised the original poster to opt for a border run, which is considered easier by most respondents. They highlighted risks and complexities associated with the extension process, such as updated documentation requirements and varying procedures at different immigration offices. Many experienced individuals in the group recommend following the officer's advice and doing a border run, as it is perceived to be a simpler and quicker option.
